What do I look like to God?

"So God created man in His own image." Genesis 1:27

How many times have you looked in the mirror and said, "I hate the way I look."  We have all done it.  More times than I can count I have complained about my weight, my hair, my skin and even my clothes.  Every woman has one thing that she just does not like about her body.

One time while teaching a group of kids about hurtful words, we posted a picture of a dart board on a wall.  For every hurtful word, we threw a dart.  After awhile the dart board was full of darts.  Then we removed the picture of the dart board to reveal a picture of Jesus underneath.  Every time we threw a dart, we hit Jesus, whose picture was now full of holes.  The same thing applies here.  When we complain and criticize our looks, we are doing the same to Jesus.  We were created in His image.  God created us to be like Him.  Psalm 139:4 says, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made."  To God we are beautiful and wonderful.  We are His treasures.  So the next time you look in the mirror, say out loud, "I am beautiful because I am created by God."

  1. What a great illustration with the dart board. We are hurting Jesus when we criticize ourselves. Everything we are was created by God. Thanks for the sweet reminder.
