Forgiveness

Is it hard for you to truly forgive someone?  We have all experienced a time when someone hurt us.  Maybe they asked forgiveness of us or maybe not.  But we have all been hurt in our lives.  Were you able to forgive them and let it go? Or are you holding on to that hurt?  Sometimes we are hurt by those we truly love and respect and it is hard to forgive and forget.  We want them to hurt as we hurt.  We want them to pay for what they did.

Haboring unforgiveness can weigh you down.  It can hinder your worship with God.  We are not meant to hold unforgiveness.  The Bible says in Matthew 6: 14-15, "For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you.  But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive you sins."  If we hold on to that hurt and unforgiveness, God will not forgive us our sins.  And we all have sinned.  I surely do not want God to be unforgiving to me.  I sin daily and I need His forgiveness daily.  So I must be forgiving to those that hurt me.

When someone does wrong by you, forgive them.  Even before they apologize, or if they never apologize.  Pray for that God would help them and pray that God would help you to be forgiving.  Do not hold on to anger, hurt or bitterness.  Do not live in the back hole of unforgiveness.  Forgive and live in the freedom of God.
