"Everyone Please Remain Calm!"

"Everyone please remain calm!"

That is what I felt like screaming this morning.  The start to this gloomy Tuesday has been a little chaotic.  When we finally sat down to breakfast, my son knocked over the vase of tulips sitting on the table.  That sent everyone into an extra chaotic rage.  My son cried thinking he was in trouble (he wasn't) and the other three kids went nutso because of the water going everywhere, so then the dogs caught on and started barking.  It was a loud, no make that a very loud, mess.  But, it wasn't that big of a deal.  Really, a little water on the table and floor, not a biggie.  My four kids and three dogs made it out to be something catastrophic when it wasn't.

We all have times when we just feel chaotic.  Things aren't going right.  We have too much going on at one time.

I would imagine that is how the disciples felt out on the boat.  Chaotic.  Too much was going on.  Too much wind, too much to do at once.  But there was one that remained calm.  So calm in fact, that He slept the whole time.  "He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, 'Quiet! Be still!' Then the wind died down and it was completely calm." Mark 4:39  Once Jesus woke up He, still calm, simply told the storm to be still.

"Be still and know I am God." Psalm 46:10

We can remain calm because we know that God is God.  He knows what is going on in our lives.  He knows all about the bills, broken hearts, illnesses, disobedient children, runaway dogs and spilled vases.  We have no need to feel stressed and chaotic.

When that feeling of chaos and stress comes to take over, simply tell yourself to remain calm in Christ.

Sweet Blessings~

  1. This was SOOO me yesterday. Finally when John got home I just went upstairs and cried and cried to God. I feel much better this morning thank you for this post it just reafirms what He told me yesterday!

  2. very true. So often we make a big deal over spilled vases. Other than a little inconvenient...it's really no big deal when we look at the bigger picture. Thanks.

  3. Amen... He frees us from our chaos and He does it so well... when we let Him :) Great post!

  4. God will take care of everything for us if we just let Him. We just need to remember who God is and what He will do for us. I don't know which one of the boys it was that knocked the vase over but I really felt for him when I was reading your post. Those dogs can sure join in when something like that happens and it sure does seem worse than what it is. I should know with our three. Loved your post and reminder. Blessings and luv you.

  5. Hi Jenifer,
I'm so glad that Jesus has the power to calm the storms in our lives, otherwise I would have been on Valium a long time ago!
    God is so GOOD!
    Hugs, Cindy

  6. I'm learning to take my chaos to Him, but it seems so hard sometimes. I get so overwhelmed that I can even think to pray. Thanks for the reminder!

  7. I need MY chaos calmed! I am completely overwhelmed at this point and I wonder why the Calmer of the storm hasn't seen fit to calm this storm. I know He is here; I know He knows how I am feeling. I need His calm...

  8. Thank God that He's the one steady thing in the midst of my chaos...

  9. Amen Jenifer! I find when I look to Him in my times of turmoil, the rough seas of my life become still as well.

    Wonderful post!

    Have a Blessed Day!

  10. A wonderful reminder Jenifer! Thank you
