This morning as I was reading in Lamentations I was beginning to get a little down with all the troubles it talked about. Then I come to this these verses:
Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed,
for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning;
great is Your faithfulness. I say to myself,
'The Lord is my portion; therefor I will wait for Him.'
Lamentations 3:22-24
Life can cause us troubles. Life can bring us down. But if we just remember that because of our Father's great love, we are not consumed! His give us new mercies and new compassions each and every day. He is our portion. That is exciting to me!
What verse has spoke to you this week?

Yes, great verse! Thank the Lord for His mercies! Here's a good verse from my week: "He has made everything beautiful in its time". Eccles. 3:11
ReplyDeleteAmen! Thanks for stopping by Lisa!
DeleteWhat a gorgeous post & photo!! Thanks for sharing your devo insights.
ReplyDeleteLooks like we're both reading the One Year Bible huh? :) This passage (also in Lamentations 3) spoke to me this AM: "Though He brings grief, He also shows compassion because of the greatness of His unfailing love. For He does not enjoy hurting people or causing them sorrow."
In the past, I think part of me wondered if God enjoyed our heartache because He wasn't ending mine (despite my pleas :).... but now I understand He's so close when we're hurting and doesn't want us to suffer. This Scripture really encouraged me today.
Love your writing! Hope to see more of it :)

Amen, He is so close to us through our hurts and doesn't want us to suffer.
DeleteI'm not 'officially' in the One Year Bible, but I've read it so much that I kind of do the same plan. :)
Thanks so much for stopping by! God bless!
Dear Jenifer
ReplyDeleteOur God does what He does because He is who He is and that is love. I am so grateful that His mercy, goodness, grace and love do not depend on us, because that would have been disastrous! The theologians like to say that He acts Ek Theos; according to His character.

DeleteMatthew 12:21 And his name will be the hope of all the world.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that beautiful?
okay. I am having trouble with google. It won't let me sign in. So just know "John Ogden is actually Tammy Ogden." not sure what I am doing wrong. :(
ReplyDeleteVery uplifting to read. Thank you. This morning I read a little bit in book written by Billy Graham. About prayer. May we follow Jesus' example He was a Man of prayer when He was on earth. He never stopped praying. He prays for us in heaven now. Because I struggle, I need easy lessons: your blog :-) or a piece from Graham's book and especially what Jesus himself says in the Bible.

Hi Jenifer,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your thoughtful post. I love that verse too :)
Psalm 118:6 spoke to me this week -'‘The Eternal is with me, so I will not be afraid of anything. If God is on my side, how can anyone hurt me?’ The Voice Translation.
Feeling so thankful that we are not consumed...because of the Lord's great love and because his compassions never fail.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite verses, so filled with hope! Thanks for this encouragement today!! <3 Blessings, Shelly
