What Kind of Ground Are You?

In Mark chapter 4, Jesus tells a story of a farmer who is planting seeds.

"Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. as he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times."
Mark 4:3-8

Jesus went on to tell the disciples what the parable meant. The seed that feel on the path was like the person who hears the Word of God yet Satan comes and takes away the Word that was sown into them. Some people are like the seed planted in rocky places. They hear the Word of God and receive it with joy. Yet when trouble comes, they fall away from God. Then you have those people who are like the seeds planted among thorns. They hear the Word of God but the troubles of life come and choke them, pulling them away from God. Then you have those who are like the seed planted in good soil. They hear the Word, accept it and go on to live a life for Jesus and produce crop -witnessing and share the Good News.

Which ground are you? Do you hear the Word and ignore it? Do you hear the Word yet let it go in one ear and out the other? Do you get encouraged by the Word only to let troubles bring you back down? Or do you hear the Word and strive to apply it to your life and live for the Father?

I want to be the good soil. I want His seeds to be planted deeply in me so that I can grow in Him and produce crop.
