Praise In The Bitter Things

Let's just get this out of the way now. Life is hard.

Too often we think that because we follow God, our life will be easy. But that's just not true. We were never promised an easy life. We were, however, promised that God would be there by us.

Bills need paid. Kiddos get sick. Dogs tear things up. Relationships struggle. Health issues arise. The list goes on. Things just get hard. But 1 Thessalonians tells us something big.

Give thanks in all circumstances,
for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:18

Whatever you are facing, give thanks and praise to God. Praise God that one day you will be able to look back on this situation with a testimony of His goodness. Sara Hagerty says in her new book, Every Bitter Thing is Sweet:
My mess wouldn't forever be a curse. One day it would be my crown. One day it would tell the story that, yes, He is good...to me.
God is working in your situation. You may not see it yet, but friend, He is working. You will rise above this. You will have victory in Jesus. Hagerty goes on to say:
God is showing me that His aroma can rise up out and even over the chaos.
Every Bitter Thing is Sweet

Find sweetness in your bitter moment. Find goodness in the chaos. There is always reason to praise God.

In Every Bitter Thing is Sweet, Sara Hagerty shares her story of loss, brokenness and chaos. She shares finding God right there among it all. She didn't find God when things were perfect, she found Him when things quit working for her. Sara tells how all bitter things are sweet, because they make us hungry for God. I encourage you to check this book out. You will be blessed.

  1. Thanks Jennifer! Thats a great blog you've written! When I feel sadness in my heart because I can't be thankful I remember verse 17: "Pray without ceasing." I pray if He will give me Joy in my heart in our bitter moments.
