Who Needs Encouragement & How to Encourage Them

Today is National Encouragement Day. Yes, the day is almost over, but it is never too late to encourage someone. We all need words of affirmation every once in a while. We all need to know that someone is there and has our back. The Bible even tells us to encourage one another.

So encourage each other and build each other up,
just as you are already doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:11

Here are just a few ways to encourage someone:
  1. Let them know you are praying for them, then actually pray for them.
  2. Mail a card or note just letting them know you are thinking of them.
  3. Send a small gift. It could be a bookmarker with a Scripture verse, magnet for their refrigerator, flower, favorite candy bar, the list is endless.
  4. Tell them how much you appreciate them.
  5. Thank them for what they've done.
  6. Bake a plate of cookies and deliver them.
  7. Affirm them in some way, such as saying, "You do an amazing job teaching the kids in Sunday School" or "You are a great coach to our kids."
Here are a few people you can encourage:
  1. Neighbors.
  2. Sunday School teachers and nursery workers.
  3. Family and friends.
  4. School teachers.
  5. New parents.
  6. The elderly in nursing homes.
  7. Everyone!
