THE KING IS COMING

Growing up in church we used to sing a song that often plays in my head still to this day. Maybe you've heard it?

Soon and very soon, we are going to see the King
Soon and very soon, we are going to see the King
Soon and very soon, we are going to see the King
Hallelujah, hallelujah, we are going to see the King

It continues on with different verses, but the truth in that song is so powerful. We are going to see the King. The King is coming, very soon. Pastor and author, John Bevere, has a new book on this same topic. The King is Coming tells us that it's time to prepare for the return of Christ.

Too often we ride the fence line, holding God's hand and holding the world's hand. We think if we just go to church and are generally a "good person" that we can live how we want. But that's not what the Word says.

So, because you are lukewarm,
and neither hot nor cold, I am
going to vomit you out of My mouth.
Revelation 3:16 CSB

This verse always makes me think of that game we played as kids, hot and cold. Someone would hide something as we go around looking for the hidden item, the would shout out "Cold," as we walked further away, then "Hot," the closer we got. The closer we get to God, the more His fire falls on us. Likewise, the further from Him we get, the colder our life becomes. And when we live that cold life or bounce in the middle, He promises to "vomit you out."

In The King is Coming, John tells us how Christ's return is God's master plan. He says, "If we look at Jesus' return through the perspective of a single event rather than through the eyes of God's glorious master plan, we'll lack the eager expectation that enables us to stay diligent in our obedience to the end. We are vulnerable -easy prey for distraction, discouragement, or deception. God drew up this master plan for His Kingdom before time began." This isn't just an event. Not just a game or just a concert or even just a church service. This is God's ultimate plan for all of creation. It is a glorious coming together! That is something so incredibly exciting that we should yearn for it.

John goes on to say, "The magnitude of love and generosity in His master plan is incomprehensible and generates greater astonishment the ore we understand the glory of the One we're talking about." So the more time we spend with God; the more time in His Word, the more time in prayer, the more time in worship, the more we begin to understand just how incredible this is.

The King is Coming is an incredible book, John helps us understand Biblical prophecy, grow in our knowledge of God, cultivate a heavenly perspective, and embrace our identity as the bride of Christ. John weaves Scripture and truth onto every page. And each chapter ends with a key passage, point of focus, something to ponder on, a prayer, and a profession.
