JESUS CALLING BIBLE FOR CHILDREN {GIVEAWAY}

My husband has gotten into a dirty little habit. A habit that costs quite a pretty penny for us. And I am so proud of him for it!

What's the habit you ask? Giving his Bible away. Over the past several years he has given away at least 6 of his own personal Bibles. Why would he do that you ask? Because we firmly believe that every person, no matter how young or old, deserves and needs their own Bible. So when my Jeremy hears of someone who doesn't have a Bible, he hands his right over.

This is why I love sharing Bibles with you. And today I have a wonderful children's Bible that your little ones will love. It's the new Jesus Calling Bible for Children. This Bible has beautiful pictures your child will love looking at as well as Sarah Young's Jesus Calling devotions we all love.

Jesus Calling Bible for Children has 160 devotions from the Jesus Calling children’s devotional. The two-color Bible text and devotional content are complemented by 96 colorful Bible story pages, takeaway applications, 365 highlighted key memory verses, prayers, and kid-friendly applications. This is a great Bible for your child and for family devotions.

What Are They Imitating {Giveaway}

Children mock what they see and hear. I babysit a precious wide-eyed, curly-headed 15 month old. Yesterday he kept saying the words shut up. I don't allow those words in my house and I know his mother and know she doesn't like those words either. So I was a little lost as to why he was saying it. While I was relaying this to his mom, my son piped up and said, oh I say that to the dogs when they start barking sometimes. Makes sense since the little one kept saying it to the dogs. My 13 year old son got a big lesson in watching his words, and I got a big lesson in paying closer attention to what my teens are saying since I haven't caught on that they were doing this.

Since our kids, even the little ones, mock what they see and hear, why not let them see and hear Jesus? #family #children #parenting #motherhood

Since our kids, even the little ones, mock what they see and hear, why not let them see and hear Jesus? Why not let them hear praise music floating throughout the house and hear mommy saying things like thank you God for providing and Jesus be with us today? Why not let them see mommy reading the Bible and praying? Why not read the Bible and pray with them?

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.
Ephesians 5:1

This Sunday my month old nephew was dedicated to God at our church. My brother-in-law, while leading the dedication, said that if his son is going to imitate him, then he wants to imitate God. Such wise words.

So let me ask you today, what are your children imitating? Are they imitating God through you or are the imitating the world through you?

Jesus Today: Devotions for Kids {giveaway}

The house is quiet and still as everyone tries to sleep...or so I think. In the dark of the night I see the light in my boys' bedroom is on. Upset, thinking they are playing around again, I barge in to firmly tell them to go to bed now! However, instead of seeing them wrestling on the floor, lifting weights, talking, or goofing off, I see them both sitting quietly reading their Bibles, highlighters in hand. I quickly apologize for interrupting and sneak out. My mama's heart soars.

Our kids need to spend time with Jesus. They need to read His Word and pray. They need to learn to have a personal relationship with Him. They learn this by the example you set.

Let your kids see you read the Bible.
Let them see you pray.
Read the Bible with them.
Pray with them.

Your kids need this. They need this example in their life. It is never too early to get your kids into the Word of God. There is never a reason to not read the Bible and pray with your kids. Your kids need to know Jesus and need to know the hope we have in the Father.

Today I want to share a new devotional just for your kids, Jesus Today: Devotions for Kids. From Sarah Young, the author of Jesus Calling, Jesus Today: Devotions for Kids is written as though Jesus is talking directly to our kids and is based on Scripture.

Some kids may think that hoping is just wishful thinking.  But the hope Jesus offers you is something you can hold on to -- knowing it will never let you down.  Because Jesus will never let you down!

5 Ways To Study & Understand The Bible {Giveaway}

The Bible is this massive size book with hard to pronounce names and sometimes, even harder to understand verses. Yet the Bible is our love letter from God. Our instruction manual for life. Our daily bread. We need the Word.

So how can we study the Bible?

Here are 5 ways that I have found help me study and understand the Word of God.

  1. Read the information before the book. For most of my life I simply dove into a book of the Bible without reading all of the info. I never even knew who wrote many of the books. However, I have come to realize that the info there is so important. You can find out who wrote the book, who they were writing to, the time frame and so much more. It is great information to help you get started in each book.
  2. Utilize YouVersion. So many of the Bible names are hard to pronounce. When I was a child, one of my Sunday School teachers told us to replace those hard names with your own name. While it may be okay for awhile, I think it's important to know the names. God put those names in there for a reason, we should know them. One thing we love to do in our home is when we come across a hard to pronounce name, we open up the YouVersion Bible app, tap in the Scripture reference and let YouVersion read it to us. Then we hear exactly how to pronounce those names!
  3. Read the commentary. I have a study Bible with commentary at the end of each page. It has great information that helps explain what is going on at the time. Sometimes you read a Scripture and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The commentary explains how things were in that time which gives you a better understanding of the verse.
  4. Cross reference. Have you ever wondered what all those teeny tiny numbers and letters mixed in the verses were? Many Bibles have a center column with related verses. Find the correlating letters and numbers and it will take you to the related verses to give you a more in depth study.
  5. Journal. I love journaling things that God spoke to me as I read. But it's also great to write things down that you may not understand. As you write them, read the commentary on them and cross reference them, pray and ask God to give you understanding. He will reveal to you what He wants you to glean from the verses.
Studying the Bible is a great way to learn about God and know His heart. Don't give up because you don't understand what you read or know how to study. Press in.

Today I want to share with you the #1 best selling devotional, Jesus Calling. In these powerful pages are the words and Scriptures Jesus lovingly laid on her heart. Words of reassurance, comfort, and hope, Words that have made her increasingly aware of His presence and allowed her to enjoy His peace.
