SHE READS TRUTH BIBLE

I love the Bible! Seriously, I love reading God's Words to me. I even love just holding His Words. If you were to find an original copy of Pride and Prejudice or Wuthering Heights, you would likely hold it gently in your hands, running your fingers down the spine, breathing in the beauty of years gone by. That is how I feel with God's Word. To know that He breathed the words on the pages with me in mind, it brings me to tears.

Earlier this year I realized it was time to place my well worn Bible on the shelf and purchase a new one. This was a hard decision for me because my Bible, this particular one a gift from my husband, is precious to me and replacing it is a hard thing to do. Right about the same time, She Reads Truth announced they were launching a She Reads Truth Bible. I followed along, waiting as they piece by piece gave us hints about the Bible. Each new hint stirring up excitement in my heart. Before too long, I was convinced the She Reads Truth Bible would be my next Bible.

My daughters and I each got a She Reads Truth Bible and I cannot tell you how much we love this Bible! Every single detail.

WARM UPS WITH THE WORD & 3rd ANNUAL SUMMER BLESSING GIVEAWAY

Our family is a baseball family. We love watching our favorite baseball teams and we love watching our boys play. Last summer we had to switch leagues for my oldest son, as our homeschool organization was no longer offering baseball and he aged out of the rec leagues. We had quite the experience with this league. His coach was the man who runs the entire league of roughly 1000 kids, along with his full time job. At first we were excited. This man had played professional baseball, we thought it would be a great learning experience. Instead, just the opposite happened.

The coach was so busy that he told the boys there would be no practices. Really? No practices at all? Then he told the boys to show up at game time, no warm up time. Now, that is just crazy! These boys, all 12 of them, have played baseball their entire lives. They know the game, they love the game. Many of them can play multiple positions. Basically put, they can do this. But the thing is, without practice time and warm up time, they didn't play well. The season was basically a bust.

That is how it is with God's Word. We know what the Bible says. If you've been saved a long time, you've probably even read it through cover to cover a time or two. We know what God wants, we know how to act, we know right from wrong, we get it. But if we don't "practice" and "warm up" with God's Word each and every single day, we won't play well. We are risking our day being a bust.

Our day will still bring normal life things. Some good and some not so good. But when we "warm up" in God's Word, just like a ball player, we are better prepared for what the day throws our way.

So let me ask you friend, have you warmed up with God's Word today?

It's time for the 3rd annual Summer Blessing Giveaway! And friends, you are going to love it!

SHE READS TRUTH BIBLE & BOOK {GIVEAWAY}

If you've been around here much at all, you know how much I love the Bible. My love for the Bible has grown so much over the past 6 or so years. I went from pulling my Bible off the shelf long enough for church services then putting it back in its place until the next Sunday, to now I deeply love my Bible and want it around me all of the time. I love getting up each morning and sitting in the quiet of my home reading God's Words to me.

My husband and I both have developed this deep love and passion for the Word of God. We firmly feel that every person needs and deserves their own Bible. Because of this, we keep extra Bibles in our home and in our church office. If anyone, even a child, needs a Bible, we give them one. As a children's pastor I am continually teaching my kids at church how important the Bible is. Next week we are even starting a 12 week series all about the books of the Bible, I can't wait for this.

When I heard that She Reads Truth was developing their own She Reads Truth Bible, I was beyond excited. I've followed the SRT studies for several years and I am always blessed and encouraged with their devotions as well as their passion for God's Word. Partner my love for the Bible and my love for SRT and this new Bible had me completely geeking out!

Just look at that Bible, isn't it gorgeous! This Bible is, simply put, incredible. Some of my favorite features are:
• Art at the beginning of each book
• Maps
• Timelines
• Color coded subdivisions
• Devotions scattered throughout the Bible
• Reading plans
• The amazing covers

Two things I didn't like about this Bible, which are just my personal preferences, is this Bible is not Red Lettered and pronouns for God, Jesus and Holy Spirit are not capitalized (this one is actually hard to find in a Bible). But the things I loved about the SRT Bible pressed me to get one and I am so glad I did. My 19 year old daughter chose the Gray Linen, my 15 year old daughter chose the Poppy Linen, and I chose a Poppy Linen and the Brown Genuine Leather. Yes, yes, I got 2 for myself. I told you, my husband and I are obsessed with Bibles!

I love the SRT Bible so much that I want to share with you. I am giving away a SRT Bible in Poppy Linen and the She Reads Truth Book by SRT leaders Raechel Myers and Amanda Bible Williams. To enter to win the SRT Bible and book, complete each task in the rafflecopter below.

My 12 Favorite Reads of 2016

Reading is probably my most favorite thing to do, outside of spending time with my family. I love reading Christian fiction for the fun, the story and the imagination. But I also love reading devotional books as well. I have read dozens of books this year and my heart and soul have been blessed by many of them. Today I wanted to share my top 12 favorite books and Bible studies of 2016 with you. If you haven't read these books or done these studies, I encourage you to pick them and get started for 2017!

To head over to Amazon to read more on the books and to order, just click the titles. Here we go!

She Reads Truth's Open Your Bible: God's Word is For You and For Now. This 6 week study was incredible! I did it with the gals at my church and we loved learning about why God's Word is relevant to us and why is is for us right now. Raechel and Amanda know exactly how to encourage us and lead us to get into the Word.

Armor of God by Priscilla Shirer. This is one of the meatiest studies I have ever done. Priscilla has so much information and shares the Armor of God in a away I have never known. The video teaching is incredible. You get to hear Priscilla share stories from her own life as well as bring the Bible to life.

Overwhelmed: How to Quiet the Chaos and Restore Your Sanity by Kathi Lipp and Cheri Gregory. This book is a full of encouragement and tips for restoring sanity and getting your calendar and life in order. Overwhelmed isn't even available yet, it releases January 1st, and it is already Amazon's #1 new release! That's amazing! If you preorder Overwhelmed by December 31st, you get 5 of Kathi and Cheri's ebooks for free PLUS you get their new Get Out From Overwhelmed Planner. This planner is awesome. Fear Fighting: Awakening Courage to Overcome Your Fears by Kelly Balarie. We all live with fear. Sometimes that fear can be crippling. Yet the Word tells us to fear not. Kelly shows us how to overcome our fears and life with courage.

Present Over Perfect: Leaving Behind Frantic For a Simpler, More Soulful Way of Living by Shauna Niequis. Sometimes we seek perfection in everything we do and sometimes that means we are not really living. I was so excited to read this book because I want to live in the present. To be present. Shauna shares her own real life stories all the while encouraging you to be present.

The Broken Way: A Daring Path to The Abundant Life by Ann Voskamp. I love Ann's poetic way of writing and she always knows how to reach right into our soul and lift us up. We all have been broken at some point and Ann teaches how to use that for God. There us a study guide and dvd that go along with The Broken Way that is amazing!

Listen, Love, Repeat: Others-Centered Living in a Self-Centered World by Karen Ehman. Everything about the world today screams me me me! Karen teaches us how to think of others, how to bless others and how be hospitable to those around us. There is a study guide and dvd that go along with Listen, Love, Repeat.

Fervant: A Woman's Battle Plan to Serious, Specific, and Strategic Prayer by Priscilla Shirer. Technechally I read Fervant at the end of 2015 but this is one of my all time favorite books so I had to add it to the list! Priscilla reminds us of the truth that we have a real enemy who is dead set on destroying us. She teaches us strategies for praying and helps us create a battle plan. This book will change your prayer life forever!

Uninvited: Living Loved When You Feel Less Than, Left Out and Lonely by Lysa TerKeurst. Many of us have felt the sting of rejection in our lives. Maybe we even think God Himself has rejected us when He doesn't answer our prayers they way we think He should. Lysa shows us how God is not only not rejecting us, but welcoming us with open arms. There is a study guide and dvd that go along with Uninvited. The dvd sessions were recorded in the Holy Land!

She Reads Truth Book: Holding Tight to Permanent in a World That is Passing Away by Raechel Meyers and Amanda Bible Williams. Raechel and Amanda show us how to stay close to the Word of God even through hard times. They share their own real life hardships and how God would draw them close to His heart through the Word.

Grace, Not Perfection: Embracing Simplicity, Celebrating Joy by Emily Ley. This book is on my list, yet this one I have not read yet! It has been sitting on my desk calling my name! I have been aching to catch up on some book reviews so that I can dive into it. Emily realized through her crazy busy life that she just couldn't do it all. She decided grace was better than perfection.

Nothing to Prove: Why We Can Stop Trying So Hard by Jennie Allen. Jennie understands what many of us feel, that we are trying so hard to prove that we are enough. Enough of a wife, mom, employee, sister, friend, woman. But the truth is, we have nothing to prove. Jennie tells us how to find freedom and stop trying to prove ourselves. With every turn of the page I was crying out, "Yes, yes, yes!" Nothing to prove is available for preorder and comes out next month.

She Reads Truth

I am excited and honored to share a new book with you today. This book is from the beautiful ladies of the online ministry She Reads Truth. Raechel Myers and Amanda Bible Williams (Yes! Her name really is Bible!) bring us the She Reads Truth Book.

She Reads Truth Book tells the story of Raechel and Amanda who discovered through very different lives and circumstances, that only God and His Word remain unchanged as the world around them shifted and slipped away. Their book is full of Biblical application and Scripture and is not just about two women but about one Hero and one Story.

As you read Raechel and Amanda's stories in She Reads Truth Book, you will find yourself in the pages. You find your hardships, your situations, your struggles, your stories. You will find that you are she.

My 15 year old daughter, Grace. Both of my daughters (my other daughter Lylea, 18) are involved in SRT.
In this ever changing world, we need to turn to the one thing that is never changing, God's Word. Raechel and Amanda encourage that. Not only in their book, but also in their 6 week Bible study with LifeWay and in their online ministry.

Finding Peace

Candles lit.
Sitting in my chair.
Feet on the ottoman.
Fuzzy blanket wrapped around me.
Glass of sweet tea or pepsi beside me.
Husband across the room reclined in his chair.
Quiet laughter floating through the air from my children.
This is peace to me.

Lamp lit.
House quiet and still.
Everything locked up.
Children tucked safely in bed.
Lying in bed with a good book in hand.
Husband lying next to me, our feet touching.
This is also peace to me.

The beach.
This is definitely peace to me.

I've been studying the Fruits of the Spirit with She Reads Truth. Yesterday was the fruit of peace. When I opened my study packet and my app and saw that day 4 was peace, I chuckled. God has really been dealing with me about this. I should have known He would give me another reminder. He's so awesome like that.

I deeply crave peace. I think we all probably feel that way sometimes. Among the running around of children's sports, music lessons, homeschooling, church activities, caring for infants and the many other hats we wear, we want peace.

Learning how to find peace. #peace

Our sons used to have the same baseball season. Which made for a very busy June, but we loved it. However, now that our older son plays high school baseball and our younger son is still playing summer rec ball, the seasons are separate. Yet, for a couple of weeks one son's games overlap with the other son's practices. Then throw in our daughter's last couple volleyball games and now needing to wake up about 30 minutes earlier each day. It has made for a very exhausting past three weeks.

I've been craving peace. To the point of tears. I cry out to the Father to just give me peace for a moment.

He gently nudges my heart and reminds me that peace doesn't come from sitting down. Nor does it come from candles or quiet. Peace comes from Him.

Peace I leave with you;
My peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 14:27

True peace comes from the Father. He gives peace in a way that scented candles never could. He gives peace in a way even the beach cannot give. He fills our hearts with peace in a way that only He can, no other human could bring us this peace. His peace is there even in times of trouble, and yes, in times of busyness. His peace passes all understanding and calms our troubled soul.

Whatever you are facing, whatever trials, troubles or busyness, call out to God. Take a deep breath and breathe in His peace. Let it settle in your soul and calm you, even amidst the chaos.
