A Legacy of Integrity

My daughter is leaving soon for an out of town tournament with her volleyball team.  The original plan was that I would travel with her, however, the dates did not work out for me to go this time.  My husband and I checked all of the necessary information; where they are staying, phone numbers, addresses, adults going, etc.  We have prayed many times over her safety and will until she is home again.

Another area that we are praying with her and for her is integrity.  While she plays volleyball with a Christian school, that does not always mean all of the school children are Christians.  Today's teenagers are into so many things that are considered acceptable, however they are not acceptable.  They can lead our children down a dangerous path, a path that leads away from Christ.  We have taught our daughter and trust her.  We trust the Holy Spirit to be with her and guide her.

Train up a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6

Are we teaching our children about integrity?  Are we teaching them how to walk away from the crowd when things going on are not pleasing to God?  Are we teaching them to live for God even if they are the only one?  Yesterday was See You At The Pole, a day when Christian students, teachers and parents meet around the school flag pool and pray over the school, teachers, and country.  There was a picture going around Facebook, posted by a parent I am assuming.  This picture was of a young man, possibly junior high age, that was the only one in his school to show up at SYATP.  This young man was on his knees in prayer, by himself.  That picture touched me.  This young man stood when no one else would.  He made a stand.  I am not his parent, nor do I know him, but I am so proud of him.  I imagine his parents are as well.

We need to teach our children, not only with our words but also with our actions, how to live a life for Christ.  If we teach them, when times come where they are away from us or when they are faced with standing for Christ even when no one else will, they will make the right choice.  Let's commit to leaving our children with a legacy of integrity.

Sweet Blessings~

Integer Is a Whole - Fractions Are Parts

If you are good with math {I am not}, if you like math {I do not}, then you know something about fractions and whole numbers.  We know that fractions are a part of something, part of a whole.  And we know that whole numbers are integers, meaning whole, complete.

Integrity is the same way.  If we have integrity, we live as a whole.  We are the same person at church that we are at home, the grocery store or driving down the road.  Our personality and character do not change.  We are an integer, we are whole.

If we do not have integrity, we are a fraction.  We live one way at church (1/4), one way at home (1/4), one way here (1/4) and one way there (1/4).  We are not a whole.

The Bible tells us in James 1:8, "he is double-minded, unstable in all he does."  And Proverbs tells us in 11:3, "The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity."

I want to live a life of integrity.  I want to be the same person at home that I am at church.  I want to live a life of worship at all times.  I want to be a Godly example at all times.  I want to please God whether I am on my knees at the altar at church, watching tv at home, driving behind a texting driver, or standing in line at the grocery store.  I want to please God with my wholeness, my integrity.

So let me ask you today, are you a fraction or an integer?

Sweet Blessings~
