Do You Believe

"And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus."  Philippians 4:19

Yesterday I had some struggles and asked two of my sweet sisters to pray for me.  I turn to these friends knowing it is not just lip service but they are in fact lifting me in prayer.  In the same day I had three people share their struggles with me and ask me to pray for them.  I was so happy to pray for them.  I prayed what my dear pastor's wife calls a priestly prayer, and had strong faith for answered prayer.

Later in the day I still felt myself struggling to keep the joy despite my circumstance.  I found that my faith for my own need was fading.  Yet for my dear friends, I still believed mightily.  Why is that?  Why did I believe for my friends' needs to be met and not my own?  God tells us in Philippians 4:19, "And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus."  Right there He promises to meet my needs.

Maybe it is pride, maybe it is doubt creeping in.  I am not sure.  But the truth remains that God will supply my needs.  My needs may not be what I think they are.  God knows what I truly need and He will supply it.  That strong faith I carried for my friends, I need to carry for myself as well.

It is okay for us to ask for prayer, in fact, it is good.  But we need to keep the faith that God will care for us.  "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." Hebrews 13:5.  God promises us to be there and to supply our needs.  Let's have faith.  True faith, that God will keep His promise.

  1. I find myself struggling with this too, I believe for my friends but somewhere along the line I start losing the faith for myself, we can't let that happen God provides! Our new chant: Things are bad but God is good :-D

  2. It's a common thing...a normal thing to have doubt for my needs but have strong faith for that of others! I KNOW that God will supply all my needs according to HIS will! Thank you for reminding me.

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your thoughts, I love hearing from you.
