The Time Is Near

"For you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night." I Thessalonians 5:2

"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." Matthew 24:36

Recently I was talking to my mom about the end times and the people who seem to not know or just not care.  There are so many people that are Christians yet seem to be living on the fence.  One day they want to live as a Christian and they next day they want to live in the world.  Or they claim to be Christians but their life is not showing it.  My mom made the comment that we have been hearing 'the time is near' for so long now that people just don't believe it anymore.  They don't think it will happen in their lifetime.

I want very much to watch my children grow up, get married and I really want to become a grandmother.  I greatly desire that.  However, I  just do not think I will ever see that day.  If I do...oh how wonderful!  But I truly believe the time is near.  The thing is, we do not know when Christ is coming back.  Though many scientists and theologians say they can predict the second coming, they can not.  No one knows when it will happen.  It could happen before you finish reading this blog.  It could happen on Christmas day this year.  It could happen in five years, twenty-five years.  Or maybe I will become a grandmother and even a great-grandmother.  We just do not know.  The Bible says in Matthew 24:36 that even Christ does not know when the Father will send Him.

Because we do not know the time of the second coming, why would we even chance living a life riding the fence with our Christianity?  When Christ comes to call His children home, I hope that He finds me worshipping Him through prayer or singing.  I do not want to be caught on that glorious day having an 'off' Christianity day.  Just like in marriage we can not be married one day, not married the next, then married again the next.  It does not work like that.  Neither does our relationship with Christ.  We have to choose to serve Him completely and fully.  I read a statement today that says He must be Lord of all if He is our Lord at all.

Choose to serve God fully.  Worship Him fully.  Dig deeper into His Word.  Reach your world for Him.  Do not live on that fence.  Revelation 3:16 says, "So, because you are lukewarm-neither cold nor hot- I am about to spit you out of my mouth."  I do not want to be spit out!  I want to enter the gates of Heaven.  I want to hear God say well done My good and faithful servant.  Friends, on that incredibly glorious day, what side of the fence will you be on?  Are you living a life for that right now?
