Make Time

"You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13

I constantly hear people say, "I just don't have the time" when it comes to spending time with the Lord.  It is only Tuesday and I have already heard it several times this week!  We all lead very busy lives.  That is just the way of the world these days.  Everything is fast paced and everything is instant.  Whether we work twelve hour days, eight hour days, or stay at home with little ones, we are busy from the moment we get up in the morning until our head finally hits the pillow at night.  We are busy people.

Let me ask you this.  Do you make time for your favorite television program?  Do you make time to get on facebook?  Do you take a few minutes out to read a chapter in your novel?  Do you carve out time for a daily workout?  The truth is, when something is important to us, we make time.

When I was little I spent a lot of nights with my grandparents.  I loved staying over with them.  My Papa had to get up extremely early for work.  Hours before the sun even came up.  Even at the crazy hour he had to be up, he got up even earlier than necessary to spend time with the Lord.  I remember many mornings rolling over on the couch and seeing him sitting at the kitchen table, head bent over his Bible.  Why would he get up at what I say is the middle of the night?  Because it was important to him to spend time with the Lord so he made time.

If we can find time to sit at our computer and fiddle around, lay in bed and read a book, flip on the tv for an hour long drama, or whatever is important to us, why can we not make time to spend with God?

We ask "Where is God?"  But are we really, I mean really, seeking Him?  The Bible says in Jeremiah 29:13, "You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart."  To truly seek Him, we have to make time to spend with Him.

Make time.  Get up an hour early, stay up a little later, schedule time out during the day.  Make the time.  Don't just read a couple verses, pray God bless me and walk away.  Really make time.  Time to dig deep into the Word, time to really talk to God and praise Him, and time to sing and worship Him.  I promise, when you truly make time to spend with God, you will never regret it.  And I will let you in on a little secret.  If you think you are too busy for God.  Do whatever it takes to make time for Him and your time will seem to multiply.

Time with God should be a priority.  If you do not daily spend time with God I want to challenge you to start today.  If you do already spend time with God daily, I want to challenge you to go deeper.  Friends, let's make God a must in our lives!

  1. Amazing how many times we say, "I don't have time." God is the only thing in this world worth making time over!
