100

Today's post is the 100th post for Sweet Blessings!  I want to praise God!  So I thought that today I would explain how Sweet Blessings started and why I choose that name.

About two years ago, God started speaking to me about writing.  My first (and second, third and fourth, etc) thought was HA!  Yes, I actually had the nerve to laugh at God.  I am not a writer!  I am sure that with each post you can find spelling (thank You Jesus for spell check!) and punctuation errors and improper use of adverbs or something like that.  I am horrible at grammar.  My daughter is in the seventh grade and I am learning grammar right along with her and at times we both struggle.  I just saw no possible way that I could write a book!  Who would even want to read what I have to say?  What do I have to say?  So when God starting dealing with me about writing, I thought one of us was going crazy, and since I doubt God is crazy, I must be.  I put God off every time I felt that nudge to write.  Then on Sunday, August 1st, I was outside watering my flowers when God very clearly spoke to my heart.  At first I thought His message was just for me and it blessed me.  But a split second later the word blog popped into my mind.  God clearly spoke to me again.  He said, "I never told you to write a book, I simply said write.  I want you to blog."  I walked into my house, sat at my computer and said, "God if this is really You, please give me the words."  He did.  The message He gave me moments before came back to me.  It was not meant just for me, it was meant to share.  So I blogged about Beautiful Flowers.

At that point I was not sure how often I would post and how long this would last.  Maybe this is only for a short season or maybe this is a long term.  I will blog as long as God tells me to.  I am learning to be a woman who says yes to God.  Whether only five people or five hundred people read this blog, I want to be used by Him.  Sweet Blessings is God's blog.

Why the name Sweet Blessings?  That day when I sat down to post my first blog I prayed and prayed and prayed about a name.  Nothing came to me.  I decided to take a break and checked email.  When replying to one email I signed it the way I always sign email, cards, everything; Sweet Blessings~ Jenifer.  As I was typing that, it hit me, that should be the name.  You see, I sign everything sweet blessings because His blessings are always sweet!

God blesses us each and every day.  If you are reading this right now, you woke up this morning.  Praise God, that is a blessing!  Chances are good that you had a bed to sleep on, pillows to rest your head and blankets to cover up with.  Praise God, those are blessings. You will most likely eat today, another blessing.  When you are doing the laundry, that is a blessing that you had clothes to wear.  When you are paying bills, that is a blessing that you have a job to make money to pay those bills.  Just stop and look at everything around you.  God blesses us each and every moment of our lives.  His blessings are never there to hurt us or cause us problems. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"  His blessings are good and wonderful.

So there you have it, the story of Sweet Blessings.  I greatly appreciate each of my readers.  Your comments encourage and inspire me.  You are a blessing to me.  I pray for you each day.  And for my fellow bloggy friends, your blogs encourage me and lift me up.  I look forward to reading your words each day.  Thank you all for being a part of Sweet Blessings!

Sweet Blessings~

  1. I am not surprised that God has called you to blog. I have known for a very long time that God had (has) a special plan for you. You have always been sensitive to Him and His ways...this is just another thing that you are obedient to Him in. I love reading your blogs...they inspire me...they make me a proud mama (I have ALWAYS been proud of you!).

I love Jeremiah 29:11! It never ceases to amaze me that God has a plan for ME! But, then, He did create me and I know that He must love me so much more than I love my kids!

Sweet Blessings is a perfect name for your blog because that is what you have always been to us...a SWEET BLESSING! Love you!

  2. Thank you for sharing the story for the birth of "Sweet Blessings." An awesome story. Like your Mom said you have always been a sweet blessing not only to her but your Papa and me. You always show the love of God in everything you do, why would your blog be any different? You are an awesome woman and I know God smiles at you all the time. Thank you for obeying God, your blog is so wonderful and blesses me everytime I read it. Love you so much.

  3. Jenifer, I forgot to say an important thing to you. You are raising a family in a Godly fashion, a person can see that by the way they are. I am sure they have their spats but you can see the love in their eyes for each other.

By the way, the nickname I have for you fits you to a T. I am proud of the nickname and wish everyone could know it but if they did, they also would be using it.

Congratulations on your 100th Sweet Blessings Blog!!

  6. I loved reading about how you got started! Happy 100 posts, that's so exciting. I know when Kelli and I started blogging we wondered what we were doing, but God spoke to us so clearly each time we wrote that it became a desperate need for me to hear Him through writing. After our first year we had our blogs printed in a book and gave them to each other as gifts! It was really fun to see our words in writing (blog2print.com if you're interested). I also like the idea that my kids will have all of this to read one day (God, please make them read it all!) Anyway, celebrating with you today... you bless me with your words each day Jenifer!

  8. Happy blog birthday girl!! I loved reading how it all began. Isn't it funny how when God calls us, we immediately think it's crazy. And other people do too. Since God called me into ministry, the writing just sort of came with it all. I'm no writer either. Your writing is beautiful and your punctuation is great too!! I have begun embracing those crazy moments because they are usually from God. When I and other folks think what I'm doing is insane , I just go for it!
