A Prayer

Today I wanted to share a prayer with you.  This prayer comes from Stormie Omartian's book The Power of a Praying Woman.  She has some really great Power of Praying books and I love to occassionally turn to them.

"Lord, may Your Word remind me of who You are and how much you love me.  May It bring the security of knowing my life is Your hands and You will supply all my needs.  Thank You Lord that when I look into Your Word I find You.  Give me ears to recognize Your voice speaking to me everytime I read it.  (Mark 4:23)  When I hear Your voice and follow You my life is full.  When I get off the path You have for me, my life is empty.  Guide, perfect, and fill me with Your Word today."

I love where she says with Him our life is full, but when we get off His path our life is empty.  When we are fully serving God and spending time with Him, our life seems complete and full.  Our circumstances may not change but it is okay, because we know God is there and providing our needs.  But when we get off of His path, yes we do feel empty.  Like something important is missing.

God's Word is so wonderful and beautiful.  He speaks to us through His Word.  I want to learn to recongize God speaking to me through His Word.  The Word is our instruction manual.  It guides us through marriage, raising children, friendships, and more recently I have found It guides us through becoming physically healthy.  His Word is so awesome.

Read this prayer and make it your own.  Let God speak to you in a powerful way through His Word.

Sweet Blessings~

  1. Our life is full and has meaning when it is centered in Him. God loves us and we need to see ourselves through God's eyes. Then we will have contentment and peace. Amen!

  2. Lovely and so true, when I spend time with Him each day, He makes my day worth living and worthwhile! Without time with Him, it's easy to fall into a funk or just feel dissatisfied.

  3. "Guide, perfect, and fill me with Your Word today." Beautiful prayer... I have this book and it's been a long time, I need to pull it out! Staying on His path isn't always easy, but with Him we find it easier to accept our circumstances and find joy in Him. Thank you, great encouragement today.

  6. Hi Jenifer,
Anyone who has ever experienced emptiness knows that awful hollow feeling. The written word does help counter the emptiness but Christ the Living Word himself must fill the void.
