Happy Monday dear friends!  Today I am posting over at Woman to Woman for a Marriage Monday.  Come on over and join us!

"Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.” Leviticus 19:18

In life you will get hurt.  It's inevitable.  People do not always live up to our expectations.  People do things we do not like.  People hurt us.  Even those we look up to, respect and love will sometimes hurt us.

Bearing a grudge only hurts you.

Let me say that again, bearing a grudge on someone will only hurt you. Holding on to bitterness, anger and disappointment is not good for you physically, mentally or spiritually.  When we hold onto grudges, we are disconnecting ourselves from that person as well as God.  God tells us in His Word not to seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone but to love.

When someone hurts you or lets you down, ask God to remove the disappointment and hurt and help you to love and forgive.  Let's be people who forgive and move forward, not stay stagnant.

Sweet Blessings~

  1. When we hold a grudge against someone we are usually hurting ourselves more than the other person. Great reminder about forgiveness.

  2. Holding a grudge and unforgiveness makes us feel awful while the other person is completley oblivious. Forgiveness is the best way to move on! Thanks for this :)

  3. When we forgive it is as if a big weight has been lifted from our shoulders. Thanks for a great reminder. Blessings to you.

  4. Hi Lisa. I agree with you. I also feel that to forgive releases you and then that is not in the way of your relationship with God.

  5. You and I must have had the same whisperings today Jenifer... :-)

God calls for us to release all of those negative feelings, and to exercise true forgiveness. It's certainly not an easy task by any stretch of the imagination, but it's important for us to grow in His Kingdom.

    Wonderful post!

    Have a Blessed Day!

  6. I agree we need to let go of grudges and I believe in extending forgiveness. I would like to get our opinion on something, If a person continues to be spiteful and you have prayed for them, nor never respond back negatively, do you think its ok if you choose to not spend time with this person anymore? I think whenever i feel bad after being with a person each time, its best to avoid them.

  7. Jules, in my own opinion, if the other person continues to be rude or disrespectful, yes we should separate ourselves from them. Yet we should continue to pray for them and we still need to be sure that we are not harboring any grudges.
