How did you do yesterday with our homework?  Did you log your social media hours?  I knew my logged time would be high, but I was actually surprised it wasn't higher.  I only spent a total of 3hours and 38minutes.  That did include reading other blogs but it did not include working on my blog.  Including that it was over 4hours.  I have set a goal of only 3hours a day, so that is something I will be working on.  One of our facebook friends had a suggestion.  Go to Timer-tab.  As soon as you arrive on that site it is like a stopwatch and starts keeping time.  You could even set your internet homepage to timer-tab.  Once you are ready to leave the computer, you just hit pause, then when you come back, resume.  A great way to keep track.  Another thing that I do for my kids, is we have a kitchen timer at their computer table.  I tell them how much time they have and set the timer.  When it goes off, regardless of what they are doing, they must walk away.  Please share your experiences with us.  How did you do?  What goals are you going to set?  Or maybe you do not get on social media often.  Social media is good, but should never take the place of time with God or face to face with family and friends.

Today I wanted to share a verse I read in Isaiah that touched me.

"The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength,  You will be like a well-watered garden, like an every-flowing spring."  Isaiah 58:11

It is extremely hot here in the midwest.  I believe with heat index it was up to 116* yesterday and will be the same today.  In the morning I watered my flower pots and veggie garden.  But with the heat, by noon, they were looking sad and thirsty.  They were droopy and looked spent.  Come evening when it was time to water them again, at that first drop of water, everything perked up.  That was living water to them.  They needed it to be happy, healthy and survive.

God is our Living Water.  We need Him to be happy, healthy and survive.  And He will continually give to us.  He waters us when needed.  He restores our strength.  Turn to God.  When things are good, praise Him.  When they are bad, rest in Him.  Let God be your Living Water.

Sweet Blessings~

  1. Jenifer,

I had to giggle a little when I read your post. I am not much of a social media person, but I used to be, after three trips to the computer hospital in six months to clean off viruses from my computer I decided the only place on the itnernet I am visiting is my little blog world, anything else I want to do on the internet will have be done using the computers at the library, I struggled with it at first but now I have to say I don't miss it, but it has taken some getting used, I think I withdrawal symptoms for a few weeks. I love the verse you included from Isaiah and what you said about God being our living water, beautiful words you wrote there Jenifer. Blessings to you.

  2. I didn't log my time yesterday, but I was much more aware of how often I was on my computer. And I love the illustration you used about your flowers and the water. That is what God wants to do for us, but His water is Living Water.

  3. God most certainly is our living water, He is what gives me the strength to get out of bed each and every day.
I spent maybe 15 minutes on the social media and I spent a lot more on blogs. Because I have been away for a week I had to let my friends know that I was back by visiting their blogs. I will look into Timer Tab, thanks for mentioning that.
    Hugs, Cindy

  4. Hi Jenifer. Like Lisa, I didn't log my time but i think I'm going to and then decide what my max should be. Good practical advice. That scripture is one of my all time favourites. I go to it often when life kind of beats me down. You can almost feel the water refreshing and strengthening. Great post
    God bless

  5. I didn't physically log my time either but I was made more aware of how long I'm online and how many times a day i'm on. While I only spend a few minutes at a time the number of times I log on could be cut down a bit hehe thank you for this post!

  6. I wasn't on much yesterday, this is an area that I am working on already. I try to read and comment on other blogs in an hours time and then I try not to go back at all. I check my email from my phone and honestly that is usually me deleting sales emails more than anything.

Love that verse! Thanks for the wonderful encouragement Jenifer :)
