Sunday Afternoon Naps and Mario Kart

Today is Marriage Monday at Woman to Woman Ministries.  Please join us as we discuss how Satan likes to place a hold on our marriages.

I love Sunday afternoon naps!  We come home from church, get in comfy clothes, have a quick lunch, then hubby lays in his chair and watches football (till he falls asleep, even though he will tell you he doesn't fall asleep, ahem) the kids lay down and read or watch tv with daddy and I get my fuzzy blanket and curl up on the couch for a glorious nap.

Last week I laid on the couch yet could not fall asleep, even though I was extremely tired.  Between the dogs, tv, and kids, I kept getting distracted.  My husband told me to go into the bedroom and shut the door so that I could sleep in my comfortable bed without distraction.  I knew he was right.  I knew I would be able to sleep in my bed.  I knew I needed to go to the bedroom but I didn't.

God reminded me of how I do this with Him.  I know I need to rely on Him.  I know I need fully put my faith in Him.  No matter how much I know, often I just don't.

What ever you are facing, stop simply knowing that you need God and actually turn to Him.  Just as my comfortable bed was waiting on me last Sunday, God is waiting on you to turn to Him.

Continuing to count my blessings:
  • An evening completely unplugged from cellphones and computers.
  • Playing Mario Kart as a family.
  • Evidence of how cool God is.
  • Beautiful and unseasonably warm days in January.
  • Watching my kids play outside and use their imaginations.
  • Seeing God's plans for a ministry come to life.
  • Women excited to work for the Lord.
  • My husband's birthday and the wonderful man he is.
  • Celebrating his birthday out to dinner with family.
  • Being able to stay up late on Fridays and sleep in on Saturdays.
What are you thankful for today?

Sweet Blessings~

  1. Good reminder, Jenifer that it's not enough to "know" we must also act. Happy Belated Birthday to your hubby!!

  2. Today I am thankful for simple pleasures like a cup of hot lemon green tea, a toddler's outstretched arms to be picked up, the sound of laughter in the office wing at church. God is good--all the time.

  3. This is so true... "What ever you are facing, stop simply knowing that you need God and actually turn to Him." We just evade the help we need by not turning to Him. Great reminder, thanks Jenifer :)

  4. Hi Jenifer - Great reminder to act in faith on what we KNOW to be the truth, instead of just knowing. God bless

  5. Oh I love to sleep in, especially since my littlest has begun visiting me in the wee hours and keeping me awake frequently! The beauty of homeschooling is that if we "start" late, who cares? Besides, when do we actually stop learning?

  6. Amen, we can KNOW all we want but until we actually DO then it's nothing. I love Sunday afternoon naps too

  8. Knowing that we need to run to God and actually doing it are two different things. Sometimes we can be so stubborn. :)

Great list of blessings, Jenifer! I love Sunday afternoon naps too.

  9. I really need to start forcing myself to take Sunday afternoon naps. It would do me a world of good. I've been so tired and cranky lately. But even when I'm feeling weary, God's reveals Himself and His presence in everything around me.
