His Gift

I am not a morning person, never have been.  {Of course I am not a night person either.  Catch me mid-day.  Smiles}  Even if I was able to get a good night's sleep, I just do not like getting out of bed in the morning.  God has been dealing with me on this little issue.

Imagine your spouse or good friend buys you a present and gives it to you.  But you choose to not except it.  I am doing the same thing when I grumble about getting up in the morning.  Each and every day that God chooses to allow me to wake up is His gift to me.  I want to accept His gifts.  I appreciate His gifts.  So I need to get out of bed and greet each new day as His precious, priceless gift.

Why is each day a gift?

"Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."  Lamentations 3:22-23

Each day is a gift because it is like God wiping the slate clean.  He gives us new mercies, new compassions.  A new chance to worship Him.  A new opportunity to witness and encourage someone.  A new day to be with our family.  Each day we need to wake up excited!  Wake up and thank Him for a new day.  Ask Him to forgive us of our mistakes of yesterday and ask Him to guide us in this new day.

Today is God's gift to you.  What will you do with it?

Sweet Blessings~

  1. Such a good reminder! Being thankful for each and every breath is something that we need to be conscious of! We are never promised the next breath, day, year...each one we have is a gift from God!

  2. Hi Jenifer - I am a morning person, although I don't always spend that time wisely. The Lord has spoken to me through two or three blog posts today about the importance of beginning my day with Him.

Thank you for this encouraging post.

    Blessings,
    Joan

  3. You're right, each day is a gift. I used to be a morning person, but I'm afraid I'm not quite so much anymore. I am so grateful for each day, though.

  7. I loved how you looked at it from the perspective of not accepting a gift from God. I would never want to do that to Him.
