No Disappointment There

We have all experienced disappointment.  Disappointment in our child's behavior, in not getting the raise we wanted, in something not going as we had wanted it to.  We have all had some level of disappointment.

When we place our hope in our circumstances, in material things or in human, we will face disappointment.  There is no way around it.  Even 'sure things' will let us down.  Even our spouse will let us down.

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.  Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.  We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.  And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.  Romans 5:1-5 NLT (emphasis mine)

When we place our hope in God, we will never be lead to disappointment.  God created us and loves us with a love we will never be able to fathom.  He always has our best interest at heart and always does good for us.

He gives us hope when there seems to be no hope.  He gives us a hope that more dependable than a 'sure thing.'  He gives us hope of a future.  Hope of no more tears.  Hope of life.

Where is your hope placed today?

Sweet Blessings~

  2. So true! Life is full of disappointment - God is not. He is full of hope. I want to dump out the disappointment so God can fill me with hope every day. Thank you for this post!

  3. Yes! I think of it as expectations... we have a natural tendency put them in everyone and everything, but God. When He IS the One who meets or doesn't meet those expectations. He is our Hope, Amen!

  4. Good words - seeing beyond the narrow view of our circumstances and seeing the big picture. The Lord's hand over us all. Finding the hope. I loved Ann Voskamp's post last week, "lose your fears, but never your hope." Thanks, visiting from Soli Deo Gloria.
