My sweet bloggy friend, Jen from Finding Heaven, has been asking the question what does sisterhood mean to you? I love that question and the answer leads me to the Word of God.
As iron sharpens iron,
so one man sharpens another.
Proverbs 27:17
Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their work;
If one falls down,
his friend can help him up,
but pity the man who falls
and has no one to help him up.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
I struggled with friendships for a long time. For one, I am so quiet and shy, not easy traits to make friends. Two, I have a hard time trusting people due to past hurts. But a few years ago God laid these two verses on my heart and sent a handful of incredible women my way. These women are my friends, my accountability partners, my encouragers, my sisters. When I am struggling, these women lift me in prayer, send me scriptures and share with my uplifting words. When I am rejoicing, these women laugh with me. I have been so blessed with these women.
I have also been extremely blessed with a wonderful family. My parents, grandparents and siblings are wonderful and we are all very close. I know they pray for me and are always there for me.
God did not intend for us to go through life alone. We need the relationships of family and friends. I praise God for the sisterhood He has given me and I pray that I can be a friend to them as they are to me.
What does the word sisterhood mean to you?

ReplyDeleteWonderful post, Jen. Sisters, sometimes physically and oft times spiritually, have a special bond. So thankful for mine.
ReplyDeleteI love that verse I Ecclesiastes. It pretty much sums up friendship and community.
