Win Or Lose, Do It For Him

3 of my kids play sports. We are a baseball, volleyball and basketball family. And we love it. But our teams don't always win. We have had countless drives home with crying or angry kids because of lost games. We've had kids downcast for feeling as though they didn't play their best.

Losing is hard. But I think we can all agree, winning isn't everything.

The Bible tells us

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart,
as working for the Lord, not for human masters.
Colossians 3:23

It doesn't matter if you win or lose, it matters that you play the game for God.

This applies to other areas of life, not just sports.

What about in your household duties? You slave hard in the kitchen to prepare a homecooked meal for your family, not one thank you is presented. You dress up taking extra care with your hair and makeup, your husband doesn't even give you a second look. Yes, thank yous and your husband noticing how you look are great. But are you doing it for their approval? Or are you doing it for God?

Do everything for the glory of the Lord, not for humans. Doing things for God and Him alone is freeing and blessed.
