Another Form of Worship {Giveaway}

It's all over social media. You see the pictures every single day. You are inspired by them. You think they are beautiful. What are we talking about? Bible journaling.

The art of Bible journaling is incredible. I love it. Yet, I am also intimidated by it. I've journaled for years in a journal. Once in a while I will try to draw something in my journal, but not too often. In my Bible, I only highlight and make an occasional note. I have no problem with drawing in your Bible except for the fact that I cannot draw. At all. My stick people look like they've been hit by a bus. Yes it is seriously that bad.

As awful as my drawing attempts are, I've been intrigued by Bible journaling and have wanted to try for some time. You see, drawing can be a form of worship. Worship is not limited to singing in a church building. It is anything you do to connect to God, to obey Him and to praise His holy name.

The Bible says to make a joyful noise unto the Lord, so we know that you do not have to have the voice of an angel to sing praises. God simply loves when we sing to Him. In the same way, I believe that our art does not have to be perfect. God loves when we worship Him, even if our pictures are not spectacular or even refrigerator worthy.

Armed with this truth, my brand new Bible journal from Crossway, and a few supplies, I made the plunge to Bible journaling.

Whether you are an artist or or your art is lacking, whether drawing in your Bible excites you or intimidates you, as it did me, the Bible journal is a great tool for all. You don't even have to draw at all! You can use the wide margins for note taking, or writing your prayers out, or just writing out the verse that touched you that day.

I am loving the Bible journal from Crossway. The only downside to this particular Bible journal is the text is very small. Which is great to allow room for drawing, but if you are like me, better keep your glasses handy.

To enter to win the Bible journal with Blue Flora cover, complete each task in the rafflecopter below.

  6. I've been wanting to try Bible journaling for a while - and have always felt the same way, almost like my drawings just weren't good enough to go into something like that. Your post will hopefully help push me to do it and stop worrying about what it looks like, because certainly God doesn't care, as long as I'm doing it to the glory of Him.

  11. Jenifer, I recently read about how therapeutic it is to color. I took a coloring book with me to the beach and sat out on the deck and colored one day. It was really fun. I felt like it was a way to be still and know God. I used to draw little pictures in my journal to capture the day's lesson for me. Somehow I got away from that habit. Never colored those. I love this idea. Thanks so much for sharing.

  13. To be able to study the WORD and not need a notebook to jot down GOD moments would be a blessing. When you wake in the middle of the night to pray and read make your notes on the prayer need and encouraging scripture it would all be documented in one place.
