FINDING PEACE IN BEING STILL {ONE WORD 2022 CHECK-IN}

We are halfway through 2022. Can you believe it?

My One Word for 2022 is peace. After a difficult couple of years, I was ready for peace. But one thing I found is that my definition of the word peace has changed over the years. At one point in my life I would say it is sitting by the ocean as the waves lap around my feet. As a young mother I would say peace was all of my children quietly playing together while my house is clean and candles are burning. Now, however, I know that while those things are peaceful, they do not bring a true peace.

True peace can only be found in the Prince of Peace.

Peace I leave with you. My peace
I give to you. I do not give to
you as the world gives. Don’t let
your heart be troubled or fearful.
John 14:27

In seeking true peace, I have been working on digging deep into the Word of God, cultivating a more passionate prayer life, and giving my worries to the Lord. There always seems to be one phrase I hear from the Lord over and over in this season. It's always been one of my favorite verses. The Lord is saying, "Be still."

Be still, and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.
Psalm 46:10

I can get myself worked up in the busyness of day to day life and I can let struggles and worries rest on my shoulder dragging me down. But when I can just be still before the Lord, when I can quietly sit with Him, I feel true peace. Peace that passes all understanding. Peace that reminds me no matter how chaotic life gets and no matter the evil in the world, God is still on the throne and still in control.

So I continue to dig deep into the Word. I continue to cultivate a passionate prayer life. I continue to lay my head on Him and let Him whisper to me. I continue to sit still before the Lord. And in turn, I feel peace from the Prince of Peace.

How are you doing with your One Word or goals for 2022?

Be Still has always been one of my favorite quotes from Scripture. I love little reminders of these two small yet powerful words.  Just seeing the words throughout the day reminds me to pause, breathe, trust, and worship.

I shared earlier this year about my Quiet Time Basket. This is a method I've used for a dozen years and it has always helped me with my quiet time. My husband and I like to spend the weekends at our camper and hauling a basket with me was a little much. So I decided to switch back to an Organizational Bag from Dayspring. I've used their Organizational Bags before and love them so I knew this bag would be perfect.

Dayspring has an Organizational Bag with my favorite two words: Be Still. I was excited to get this bag and use it for my quiet time supplies. The Organizational Bag holds my Bible, Write the Word journal, and prayer journal. There are two clear bags which are perfect for my pens and highlighters. There is also a large pocket where I keep my stickers and two mesh pockets.

I love the side zippers that unzip to lay flat. This means I can lay the bag on my lap or at the table and all my supplies are ready to go. The handles make it easy to carry so that I can have my quiet time in my bedroom, at the kitchen table, on the couch, on the porch, or even in the camper. I can also carry the bag to church with me!

I am also loving the cute mug that says Be Still. I always enjoy hot tea in the morning and this mug is perfect. I love having all the things with this sweet reminder of the words the Lord continually whispers to my heart.

Dayspring has everything you need for Bible study. From the Organizational Bags to mugs to journals and devotionals. Dayspring is helping us to dive deep into the Word and grow in our faith journey. Shop Dayspring by clicking the banner below.
