PRAYING FOR GIRLS

I remember when I was first pregnant with my oldest. I would lay my hands on my rounded belly praying for her, though I didn't know she was a her yet. I remember driving home from work each day talking to her and praying over her. 19 years later, I am still praying for her, as well as my other babies. Now that my oldest is in the early part of her adulthood journey and preparing for college, I find that my prayers, mixed with buckets of tears, are nonstop.

The prayers of a mother are vitally important. Yet, sometimes, we aren't sure what to pray. I've often wondered if I am missing any areas that need to be prayed over. What did I fail to cover? We wonder how to pray over specific areas and how to pray Scripture over our girl.

In her brand new book Praying for Girls, Teri Lynne Underwood shares 5 main areas to pray over your daughter, each with little sub-areas. She teaches us how to pray over her identity, her heart, her mind, her relationships and her purpose. Teri Lynne uses over 200 Scriptures to show us how to pray God's Word. My favorite part is at the end of each area, she offers a Girl Talk. This Girl Talk is divided into 3 sections. 1 for little girls, 1 for the middle girls, and 1 for big girls. The Girl Talk gives discussion topics for you and your daughter to talk about and gives a little hands on activity to do together. This is a great bonding tool!

No matter how old your girl is, 1 or 21, Praying for Girls is a must read. You will be blessed, your daughter will be blessed and your relationship with her will be blessed.

Have sons? Are you a boy only mom? That's ok! Praying for Girls can work for your boys too! Our sons need prayers in these areas as well and the Girl Talk can be changed to Boy Talk with a little adjustment for the hands on areas.

God Is So Cool!

Have I ever said prayer works?  Have I ever said God provides?  Well, it does and He does!  Praise God!  In the past twelve hours I have heard of God providing in incredible ways.

A job lost only for the very next day God to place a better one in the unemployed's hands.

Down to twenty dollars for a week's worth of gas and groceries.  Something {or Someone, amen} told her to check her unemployment card from three years ago only to find three unemployment payments on it.

God is just so cool!  Can I get an amen!?

Friends, God is listening.  When you think your prayers are falling on deaf ears, think again.  God hears you.  He has a plan.  Trust.  Believe.  Be ready.

"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans for hope and a future.'" Jeremiah 29:11

Review and giveaway:

We have all likely heard of the writings of Charles Dickens and Jane Austen.  I said heard of, because I know of them but had never read much by them.  Recently I was asked to review two new devotionals that are writings from Dickens and Austen.

I love things from the 1800s.  I am fascinated by that era.  I jokingly tell my husband that God put me in the wrong century. {smiles}  But he reminds me that with the weak stomach I have I probably couldn't handle some of the cooking methods of then, if you get my drift.  (As in chicken didn't come from the store, gulp!!)  So when asked to review these devotionals and actually be able to read some of Dickens and Austen, I was thrilled.

The devotions are short for those of us with little time, but they are powerful.  The devotions start out with excerpts from Dickens and Austen's famous writings and end with scripture and Bible truths.  I love that you can turn to these short yet timeless truths anytime.

It comes in a beautiful hard back with a ribbon book marker, something this book/old time loving girl truly enjoyed.

Today I am giving away to two winners a copy of both A Charles Dickens Devotional and A Jane Austen Devotional.  All you have to do comment on today's post.  For an extra entry, share the giveaway on Facebook, then come back and leave a separate comment telling me you shared.  The winner will be announced tomorrow.

There Is Power In Prayer

Friends, there is power in prayer!  I have experienced the power of prayer many times my life.  A few months ago, I shared with you about my son's baseball teammate who was injured while preparing for a game.  Through the prayers of many Christians, what could have been a horrible baseball injury turned out to be something minor.  There is power in prayer.

Last Thursday my husband injured his back.  He was hardly able to walk at all and kept having back spasms.  Friday morning he went to the chiropractor and felt better.  After only thirty minutes, he moved just right and threw his back out again, but this time it was worse.  So we went back to the chiropractor and  Jeremy was given another adjustment.  We then went home.  As soon as we got out of the car to walk into the house, his back slipped out yet again.  He was in so much pain.  He didn't want to go back to the chiropractor yet again, so he went in the house to relax before a church event that evening.  This event was a three hour children's night in (parents night out) that Jeremy and I were running.  We had to set up games, crafts, and more.  Jeremy barely made it to church, he was in so much pain.

Earlier in the day I had texted my sweet sisters asking for prayer for Jeremy.  Friends, the moment, and I mean the very instant, that kids started to show up for our kids night in, Jeremy's back loosened up and he was pain free!  It was miraculous! There is power in prayer.

For twenty years my my mom has lost her voice annually.  She spends anywhere from six weeks to, this year being the longest, thirteen weeks with no voice.  She has been to numerous doctors who have given her different diagnosis and medications, but none have ever prevented it from happening again.  This year she lost her voice not only once for thirteen weeks, but a second time for seven weeks.  A total of twenty out of fifty-two weeks unable to speak.  When she lost her voice this fall, our group of sweet sisters daily held her in prayer not only that God would heal her this time, but that she would have answers for this ongoing condition.  My mom felt that she needed to purchase a humidifier for her home.  This past Saturday she did just that.  After only two hours, yes two hours my friends, her voice came back! We all truly feel that this is the permanent answer.  There is power in prayer.

Does God answer every single prayer with a yes?  No.  But He hears every single prayer.  He does answer every single prayer.  It may not be in our own way and in our own time, but He does answer.  My mom would have loved to be able to have her voice back and be rid of this problem twenty years ago. God wasn't ready for that.  My husband would loved to have had his back in place and been pain free to set up and prepare for our children's event, but God wasn't ready for that.  But God did answer our prayers!  He answered them in His way and in His time.

Friends, are you tired of praying?  Are you tired of asking God and not receiving the answer?  Pray until something happens.  There is power in prayer.  If you don't feel like God is answering, just keep on praying.  Keep on pushing.

Now my friends, how can I pray for you today?  I fully believe there is power in prayer and I want to pray for you.  If you have a prayer request, you can leave it in the comments below or you can email me at metzgersix@gmail.com.

Is there a time that you have experience the power of prayer?

Sweet Blessings~
