Learning To Serve

March brought many opportunities for me to serve others.  I was able to pay for someone in the drive thru behind me, picked up groceries for a friend who was sick and unable to go to the store, bought a few groceries for someone and served my church's community through a couple of outreaches.  Serving always feels good.  I never leave from serving someone and feel like I wasted time.  It is such a blessing to bless someone else. While I love to serve and never regret it, I have to admit that there are times that I grumble going into it.  That is something I am working on.  To continue reading, please head over to Woman to Woman Ministries.

Learning To Serve

Today at Woman to Woman Ministries, we are announcing our team 'one word.'  We are so excited about this journey in 2013.

My deepest desire is for the world to see Jesus through me.  All throughout the Bible you see stories of Jesus serving others.  He, the King of all kings, even washed the feet of others as an act of service.  If people are going to see Jesus in me, I must serve.  Serve my husband, my children, my family, my church, my community, and anyone who God places in my path. Sometimes this service may simply be lending a helping hand for a few moments and sometimes it may be going beyond me and serving in His strength.  I am thrilled to focus on service this year and be the hands and feet of Christ.

Dead Sea vs Sea of Galilee

If we eat and eat and eat yet never get up and move, what happens?  Right, we gain weight and are generally unhealthy.  We take in food and in turn we need to move and exercise.

This is similar to many Christians.  We go to church and think 'what can I get out of it' or 'what can God do for me.'   We consume and consume, but are we giving back?  Are we serving?

Sea of Galilee
The Sea of Galilee takes in water from the Jordan River, then in turn it gives out water as the water continues to run through it and into the Dead Sea.  However, the Dead Sea takes in water but does not give any out therefore making it 'dead.'

If we are not giving back, serving God, the church and others, than we can become 'dead.'  We need to 'take in' God and then let God flow through us.

Do you want to be the Sea of Galilee or the Dead Sea?  Are you ready to step out and serve?  Or are you happy staying stagnant?

Sweet Blessings~

Helping Hands

Today I am posting a Marriage Monday over at Woman to Woman.  We are talking about taking care of the master bedroom.  Drop by and share your thoughts.

We do not serve to convert.  We serve because we have been converted. ~Bobby Hawk

Yesterday Jeremy and I had the pleasure of visiting the church of an old friend.  When he said the above quote, my eyes popped wide open and I wanted to shout, "yes!"

So many times we choose to serve just to "convert" people to Jesus.  Then when they do not respond how we would like them to, we become disappointed, sometimes angry, and we often give up.  This is the wrong way to look at serving.

We should serve others just because it is the right thing to do.  Serving because Jesus served.  Because we have already been "converted" to a life of Christ.  And while we are serving, others will see our hearts and this is what leads them to Christ.

Today, how can you be the helping hands to someone?  How can you serve?

Sweet Blessings~
