Be A Witness

"Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in Heaven and earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I will be with you always, even to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20

I have always had a hard time witnessing.  I am not at all ashamed of my Savior.  I am just a very quiet and shy person.  It takes a lot for me to go up to someone and talk about the weather let alone something more serious like salvation.  But I know that God wants me to witness.  He says in the Bible to share the Good News.  I love Christ so much and I am so grateful for all He has done for me.  So why is it so hard for me to witness?

At my Bible study this week, a friend said that she and her finance`have challenged each other to witness to at least two people each week.  How awesome is that?  After hearing about this, I was challenged to become a better witness myself.

To witness we do not always have to go up and start preaching to people.  But we can smile at them to show God's love.  You never know, that may be the only smile they see all day.  Instead of ignoring someone or saying have a good day, we could say have a blessed day.  We can do little acts of kindness to show God's love.  We could listen to God.  You see, God sets these little meetings, or divine appointments, for us all of the time.  Maybe He is leading us to pray for the mechanic working on our car or the cashier at the grocery store.  Maybe God is leading us to help a neighbor.  There are so many ways we can be a witness, we just have to listen to God and His leading.

I want to challenge you to get out of your comfort zone and witness.  We need to share the Good News of Christ.  This weekend set a goal of witnessing to a certain number of people.  Maybe it is friends or family that you could invite to church or ask them how you can pray for them this weekend.  Or maybe it is strangers you will see and you can tell them you are praying they have a blessed weekend, then actually do pray for them.  Whoever it is and however many people, just step out there and share Christ this weekend.

  1. We are to be a light to this dark world and share God's love. I accept your challenge. : )

  2. I am exactly the same...NOT ashamed of my Lord but hesitant to go up to someone that I do not know. There are so many ways to witness, though. A smile or a kind deed will go far. I pray that God will give me a boldness to be a better 'verbal' witness!

  3. Me too...I am very shy! But lately I have been witnessing to a few people, believe it or not (on facebook). I have even quoted the Bible on 2 of the 3 occassions. I hope I did a good enough job of sharing Gods love!
