GPS vs Mapquest

"For this God is our God for ever and ever; He will  be our guide even to the end." Psalm 48:14

Are you like me, directionally challenged?  My husband always says, you can not get lost in Kansas City.  Well, I can!  Several years ago my husband was out and I took the kids to see Christmas lights.  We never made it.  I got so lost.  I was crying hard and kept asking God to help me find the highway at least.  We were fairly new to the town and church so I did not have too many phone numbers nor did I know who to call.  And if you know my husband at all you know he does not answer his phone.  I ended up on this back road that had no signs and no street lights.  What should have been a thirty minute drive to the Christmas lights and a thirty minute drive back, took me two and a half hours...and we did not see lights!  When I finally found the highway and was headed in the right direction I was praising God!

When Mapquest came out it seemed awesome.  Finally a person could go somewhere and not get lost.  Nope.  Take a wrong turn and tough.  You have to find your own way back.  So that would not work for me after all.  If I take a wrong turn, I am lost and done.

Two Christmases ago my husband got a GPS.  So cool!  You could get lost all day and night and it still gets you back on course!  When I use it, I normally hear "recalculating" numerous times, but hey, she always gets me there!

I recently heard a pastor show the comparison between Maquest and GPS related to God.  If we go our own way and take a wrong turn we are lost.  But if we let God lead us and take a wrong turn, He will always guide us back.  Sometimes we take many wrong turns and hear that "recalculating" many times,  but He never fails us.  He will always set us straight.  So friends, do you want Mapquest or GPS?

  2. I wonder how many times God has 'recalculated' my road because I didn't listen? Too many, I'm certain. But thank God, He is always there to get me back on track!!!

  3. I'm so thankful that, though we may take wrong turns on our way with God, we are never lost. He is always with us, gently guiding us back on course.
