Apps

Do you have one of those cell phones that have all of these fancy apps?  There are apps for everything!  Apps for music, for the outdoor types, for cooks, students, managing money, eating out, even exercising!  There are apps for just about anything you could possibly want.  How nice it must be when you are looking for a good restaurant and you can pull up an app that tells you exactly where to eat.  Or when you are off on a vaca and can pull up an app that tells you what to do for fun.  

Wouldn't it be so nice to have an app for life.  Something to pull up and say, "Um, no you shouldn't do that.  It is a sin" or "This is what you should do when your spouse is angry."

We do have an app for life.  It is called the Word of God.  All we have to do is open up our Bible.  You see, owning it is just not enough. We need to actually open it up and read it. 

Our app for being a good wife:
"A wife of noble character, who can find?  She is worth far more than rubies..." Proverbs 31:10 (and continues on to v. 31)

Our app for raising our children:

"Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:

Our app for dealing with anger:

"A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." Proverbs 15:1

Our app for learning to control our mouth:

"The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly." Proverbs 15:2

Our app for feeling alone:

"Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." Hebrews 13:5

We could really go on and on with our "apps."  God gave us His Word.  It is there to guide us.  It would be silly to have a cell with fancy apps downloaded to it and never use them.  It is silly to never read our Bible.  Open up the Word and let God guide you through life.
