Entertaining Angels

I love Christmas movies!  We have three channels that play Christmas movies every single day this time of year, and on the weekends, all day long.  I love it.  It doesn't matter that I have seen the same movies over and over (and over again), I still love watching them.

Last night I was watching one of these movies and in it Santa kept appearing everywhere.  They took pictures of him talking to a man and dog, but when the pictures were developed, Santa was not there.  When they went looking for him, no one knew what they were talking about.  He appeared in a fire and helped the fireman pull a child out but no one else saw him.  He led a long lost brother home to his family again.  It is not just this movie.  All of these Christmas movies have that "miracle" of Christmas.  Santa helps in such a mysterious and magical way.

As I was watching this movie last night, I kept crying.  Not because of the magical Santa, though I loved the movie, but because these things do happen.  However, it is not Santa, but God.  God sends His angels to us all of the time.  I firmly believe that.

I don't know if my grandmother will remember this or not, but when I was younger she told me about a time she was in a store and started to stumble.  Suddenly she felt hands holding her up.  When she turned around to thank the person, no one was there.  She believes, and so do I, it was an angel.

"Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by doing so some people have entertained angels without knowing it."  Hebrews 13:2

God may send an angel to stop us from falling, to give us encouragement or to lead our way.  An angel may appear as someone in need to see if we will help.  We never know when we are entertaining angels.

"Then the King will say, 'I'm telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me." Matthew 25:40  (MSG)

Recently we were given a financial blessing.  While I believe that this time God used someone in my church family to bless us, I also believe that there are situations like that where it is simply God.  When my daughter heard me crying and praising God over our blessing, she asked me if an angel put that money in my purse.  I explained to her it very well could have been that or a friend obeying God.  Angels are everywhere.

When you see someone who needs help, help them, it could be an angel.  When someone helps you, praise God, He could have sent you an angel.

Have a very safe, happy and blessed Thanksgiving day and weekend!

  1. Yes, I remember that. I firmly believe it was an angel and I know that angel was from God. God talks about His angels being among us. God works in mysterious ways. Thanks for the post, you always have such EXCITING ones and know God is helping you.

  2. Good morning Jenifer.

I'm right there with you on the Christmas Movies, I love them! This weekend marks the beginning of the season for us, and I'm very much looking forward to getting the Holiday Spirit going in our home.

And I also agree about there being Angels all around us. God works to Keep and Guide us through a wide variety of ways, and the more receptive we are to experiencing His Gifts, the more Miracles we can see in our everyday lives.

Thank you for the wonderful post, and have a Blessed Thanksgiving!

  3. Angels...yes, they are all around us. Our family has a particular angel that is always with us when we are on vacation. For years, as our family would travel this great countryside, there would be an angel perched on the right front fender of our suburban! I saw it EVERY year...I knew that we would be protected on the road! That held true one particular year as a poor little deer ran in front of us and we hit him. No one was injured and the suburban had only a little fur on the bumper! I KNOW that it was because of our angel! Praise God!

  4. I do believe that God sends angels to help us and at other times, He asks us to be that "angel" and help someone else. "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2

  6. I love this. It is very comforting. I do believe angels are around but we get so busy sometimes that we just don't always notice. We do have to stay guarded around the holidays... Guard ourselves against getting swept away by the "How much can I get versus how much can I give."
    Hapoy Thanksgiving!!!

  8. You never know who someone really is...just because they don't fit the mold that we think we should associate with we shouldn't shun them--we as Christians should 'do unto the least of them'.
