Decisions, Decisions

What do I wear today?

What do I cook for dinner?

What book do I read?

Where to go on vacation?

What route do I take to the store?

Which cookie to I chose?

I do not like making decisions!  The little things throw me for a loop.  The big things, well they just leave me completely lost.

This week we were asked something and we have to make a decision.  It had me completely stumped.  My husband felt as though God had already spoken to him and he was ready to answer.  Me, not so much.  I prayed.  Then I prayed harder.  Then I prayed even harder.  But I just did not feel a sure answer.  Last night I laid in bed and I cried.  I just wanted God to show me what to do.  I need a big, bright sign with an arrow saying this way!  But I just wasn't getting that.

"Be still and know I am God." Psalm 46:10

In the darkness of the night, God whispered to me, "I know you do not like making decisions.  You do not have to.  I already have the path laid.  All you have to choose is to obey."

Wow.  So powerful.  Of course I choose to obey God!  That is the only choice I have to make.  God makes the rest.  I need to lean on Him.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight."  Proverbs 3:5-6

I choose to obey God.  He chooses everything else!

Sweet Blessings~

  1. Isn't it great that He has plans for us already...and will equip us for every good work. Rest easy and obey Him-all else will fall into place!

  2. When we choose God all things fall into place. We know God would never take us down the wrong path. I love your post, it helps to put a persons mind at ease. Thanks!!

  3. I am just like you... making decisions is not my thing! Thankfully, God gave us both husbands that help with that and I love that He never tires of reminding us to trust in Him. Those verses are really special to me... they were among the first that I memorized and prayed when I didn't know what else to pray as a new believer.

  4. The apple certainly doesn't fall far from the tree, does it? (smile) I completely understand. I pray with you for the guidance you need. The song says, Trust and obey, for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

    Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share, but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross, but is blest if we trust and obey.

Like you, I choose to trust and obey. Thank you for this.

  5. Wow, Jenifer! You shared some of this with me earlier today, but reading it just now really spoke to me. We don't have to decide and we don't have to try to make things happen. We just need to say YES to God. I'm saying yes to whatever He has in store for us. Thanks for posting this - I needed to hear it.
