Refreshing

Here in the Midwest it is cold.  Very cold.  And we have a ton of snow.  It snowed again last night!  We have had more snow this year than we've had in a long time.  By the way, I am not a fan of snow.  (smiles)

We spend a lot of time in our family room because our school room is on one side of the room and the kids' toys are on the other side.  In our family room we have a large space heater that sits inside of a 'fake' fireplace.  My dog, a Boston Terrier named Hollie, loves to sit in front of the heater.  She actually climbs up into the fireplace and sits directly against the heater.  As a matter of fact, as I sit here typing this, she is in the fireplace now.  We have to watch her closely when we light the real fireplace upstairs!

After Hollie has been sitting against the heat for a while, she starts to pant.  She is warm and needs something refreshing.  She eventually will get up and quickly run to the water bowl.  Then she drinks practically the entire bowl of water.  She needed refreshing.

I want to be this way for God.  I want to pant and thirst after Him.  I want to crave God.  I want to desire Him as I desire water on a hot, steamy day.

"As the deer pants for the streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.  My soul thirsts for God, the living God.  When can I go and meet with God?  Psalm 46:1-2

God is the only true way to feel refreshed.  Water, it is temporary.  Everything in this life is temporary.  But God is the Living Water.  He is all we need.  Friends, let's pant and thirst for God and become refreshed!

Sweet Blessings~

  1. Thank you for the reminder. I want to get all of the Lord that I can. He is so refreshing and He is all that we ever need. No matter what it is He is just that to us. By the way, Hollie's picture looks just like her, she is a beautiful girl. Thanks for the great post.
