Life Is Short

My heart is breaking today.  I just got home from a wake.  It was the wake of a young man who was in our church youth group.  The wake of a young man who was expected home that night, who was expected at youth group tomorrow night.  A young man who had just celebrated his 21st birthday three weeks earlier.  A young man with plans and a long life ahead of him.  A young man who was only trying to do a good deed and ended up the victim of a horrible accident.

Life is short.  Plan and simple.  Friends, we are not promised our next moment.  This young man had plans.  He didn't go out Friday evening and think this was going to happen to him.

In His hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind. Job 12:10

The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised. Job 1:21

Our life is in God's hands, not our own.  God gave us life, and He alone chooses when it is time for our life on earth to end.

So now I want to ask you this.  Are you ready?  I mean really ready.  Not just yes, I go to church every Sunday.  Yes, I give in offering sometimes.  Yes, I am a good person.  I mean do you have a personal relationship, daily, with the only Savior.

If something were to happen to you today, or if God choose to come take His people Home today, would you really be ready?

I am going to do something I have never done here before but feel God wants me to do.  I want to say the sinner's prayer.  If you are not sure if you are really ready for Heaven, if you have never asked Christ into your heart, or if you feel you need to do it again, please say, out loud, this prayer.

"Jesus, please forgive me of all of my sins.  I am sorry for everything I have done that is not pleasing to You.  Help me to turn away from the wrong and seek You.  Help me to seek You not just on Sunday but every day.  Jesus I love You and I thank You for forgiving me. Amen."

Welcome to the family of God!  I want to encourage you to live for Him seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day.  Get into the Word.  Pray by talking to Him and listening to Him.  Look for God through out your day.  Be truly ready when it is time to go Home.

Sweet Blessings~

  1. There is nothing more heart breaking than the death of a young person. I've said it a million times...a parent should not have to bury their child! Things seem 'out of order' when that happens. However, as you said, our time on earth is already set...even before we are born, by the Almighty God! For whatever reason, Matt's time on earth was short. I just thank God that he knew the Lord. We know we will see him again. Yes, he wil be missed. Unchained Youth will be tough tonight...but they need to remember, Matt is in heaven with Jesus. It's time to celebrate his homegoing!!!

The question to everyone else is: ARE YOU TRULY READY TO MEET YOUR MAKER?

  3. We are promised tomorrow. We need to live every day in full surrender to God. Then we know we will be ready.

  4. There are so many things a person thinks when something like this happens. I didn't know this young man but God did and does, the Lord wanted him to come home. It is so important for a person to KNOW Jesus. It is so importand to know Jesus and not just know about Him. We just never know when our time on earth will be up. Thanks for saying the sinners prayer, hopefully anyone not knowing Jesus will say it and mean it and will join our family. My heart goes out to all that were involved in this terrible accident. Blessings and love you.

  5. So sad for his family and friends, but what a welcome this young fellow found on the other side, if he was ready to go home. You are so right, it's so important to live each day as if it were our last. Thanks for the reminder.
    Love and hugs, Cindy

  6. How heartbreaking. Praying that those who knew and love Him are comforted by the fact He is with the Lord. That's the only hope that we have, that He is preparing a place for us! I am confident of that hope and I am ready!

  7. Praying for those this young man left behind. We are not promised forever here on this earth, but with God, we are promised eternity forever with Him!

  8. My prayers go out to those whom grieve his passing Jenifer. May they feel the comfort only Our Savior can give at this time.

Only in His Grace can we truly find life.

    Have a Blessed Day!

  9. Life is short! Prayers for the family and friends. We don't always understand why this has to happen to such a young man. We do know though that He is living a much richer fuller life in eternity with the Lord now though!
