Recapping 2014: Pray

Happy New Year friends! I pray that each of you had a blessed Christmas and wonderful holiday season.

A little over a year ago I was struggling to come up with my One Word for 2014. So many great words and so many great things to focus on, but none felt right. Suddenly I realized why I hadn't come up with my word; I hadn't prayed about it. That realization brought on another realization. My prayer life had been slowly dwindling over the previous months. I knew it was time to get back to talking with my Father. My One Word became pray.

How did I do with my focus word for the year?

I'll admit that there were times of struggle. Weeks would go by where I talked to God continually and it was easy. It was good. Then there would be times where it was more difficult. I think that is normal. I think we go through seasons.

The good thing is, I was more aware of it. Some of the hard times, I would just sit there and say the name of Jesus. Sometimes I told God it was hard to pray. He knows. He created us and knows are heart.

But I became aware of the need for prayer in my life. I was intentional about making it not just a daily thing to check of my to-do list, but talking with God all throughout the day. Just because the year 2014 has come and gone, praying will always be something I am intentional about. God loves when we talk to Him.

What was your One Word or New Year's Resolution for 2014? How did you do with it? I would love to hear about your experiences so please comment!

*Come back on Thursday as I share my One Word 2014!

  1. PRAY is a great word--one that would be good for me for 2015. And it may be a focus during the year. I definitely go through seasons of feeling that my prayer-life is on-target. And other times, I feel like prayer is so much work. I love what someone else wrote recently, "Prayer became communion." Oh - for it to be that. Thanks so much for this!

  3. I didn't pick a theme for 2014, I just adopted the one my business partner was using... "Press On" it was good for part of the year, but by the end I felt pressed to the max. This year I went with my own theme :)
