One Word 2015 {MONTHLY UPDATE - MARCH}

Wait, what? It's April already? The months are flying by so fast!

I've had my One Word for 2015 for 3 full months now. To see the original One Word post and January and February updates, click HERE.

My goal is to always be transparent with you. So here's how I did in March with my One Word, water.

1) Drinking water - The first 2 weeks of March, I did great. I drank 80-100 ounces of water each day and only had soda on Friday and Saturday. I stuck to my plan and it was going wonderful. Then the second 2 weeks of March, uh, yea, I did awful. I was really wanting a Pepsi on a Monday. So I thought, okay, just 1 little Pepsi and it'll be fine. I don't think I've stopped since. I've had a Pepsi almost every day. My water intake has been around 40 ounces, no where near my goal.

I've been so thirsty the past week or so. I just couldn't get enough to drink. Then I realized just the other day that it's because I've been drinking so much soda and not enough water. For 10 weeks I was consuming crazy large amounts of water, then suddenly stopped. My body was letting me know by making me really thirsty. So today {it is April 1st as I type this} I am getting back to my water goal and cutting back on the Pepsi...again. Pray for me?

2) Living Water - I cannot tell you how much I am enjoying my quiet time before bed each night. Pausing to reflect on my day so that I can think of something to be thankful for, it has taught me so much about myself, my family and how I spend my time and where I put my energy. I love reading a short devotional and Scripture from Duck Commander Devotional for women. It helps me to keep my thoughts on the Father before falling asleep. I've also continued with my 1pm quiet time using the  She Reads Truth app.

My morning quiet time, that has been different. For the first 10 or so weeks of this year, I was really diving into the Word as normal. I even went back to journaling my prayers. But a couple of weeks ago, about the same time my water intake had slowed down, I began to struggle with my morning quiet time. I struggled to get out of bed each day and while I still read the Word, my prayers seemed rushed and lacked passion. I kept forgetting to share with my accountability ladies in my Morning Reflections group. So right now I am trying really hard to go to bed a few minutes earlier each night and get myself up and into the Word each morning.

I'm learning that it's okay to mess up. And it's okay to have someone push you back to where you need to be. For me that's been YOU! Knowing that I am going to share with you wonderful people how I am doing helps me to stay on track.

How are you doing with your One Word, New Year's Resolution or goals for 2015? If you've fallen behind or given up, it's ok. You can see how I've messed up! Just get back to it. The key is to keep pressing on. Do you have someone to help you stay on track? Share your experiences in the comments, I'd love to see how you are doing!

One Word 2015 {MONTHLY UPDATE - FEBRUARY}

It's that time again! Time to check in with each other on our One Word. {To read about my One Word, click HERE.}

1) Drinking water - My goal of drinking 80-100 ounces of water a day is so easy on some days and on others, not so much! I am using Waterlogged to help me keep track. Most days I end up right at 80 ounces. There have been a few days that I had to squeeze in a glass of water at night to hit 80 ounces. I still carry my Tervis tumbler around with me every where I go. It helps keep my water cool and always having it with me helps me to drink throughout the day.

In January, I didn't crave pepsi too much. In February, I did. I even 'cheated' and had a few on weekdays. But I am striving to not do that and stick to water on weekdays. One day I was having a really bad day and felt like I just really needed a pepsi. So I got one. Then God gave me a God-spanking. I shouldn't feel the need to turn to pepsi, or anything else, when things are bad. I should turn to God. So now when I am feeling stressed or upset or like I need a pepsi, I try to take deep breaths and pray.

2) Living Water - My goal of getting in the Word more has been such a blessing! She Reads Truth reminding me to get in the Word again. I love their reading plans. Some of my favorite plans have been the Hymns plans and the Ruth plan. If you are looking for a Bible reading plan, or for a way to get in the Word when you are on the go, check out She Reads Truth. They have wonderful encouragement following the Scripture reading for the day. I have my regular quiet time each morning. I've started journaling my prayers again, which I love to do. Then at 1pm my alarm on my cell goes off from

Before bed I grab my Gratitude Journal and my Duck Commander Devotional. I love my gratitude journal from Money Saving Mom. It gives a space for me to list something from the day that I am grateful for. This practice of pausing before bed to reflect on my day and find something to be grateful for has taught me that there is always something to praise God for. No matter how hard the day may have been, there is always reason to thank God. {Money Saving Mom's Gratitude Journal is currently sold out. When it becomes available again, I will give your more info. You will love it!} Then I read the daily devo from Duck Commander Devotional. This is so fun. Not only do you get a Scripture verse and encouragement, but if you watch the show Duck Dynasty, you know the family member's personalities and you can see that come out in their devotions. It really is fun.

All in all I am doing very well with my One Word for the year. Yet as in all things, there is always room for growth. I look forward to growing with this word, drinking WATER and Living WATER, throughout the year.

How did you do in February? Did you stick to your One Word (or New Year's resolution/goal)? Where did you struggle? Where did you feel success? Share in the comments how you are doing!

*Check back tomorrow for more about the Duck Commander Devotional and a giveaway!

One Word 2015 {MONTHLY UPDATE - JANUARY}

It's been a little over a month since I began my One Word for 2015, so time for a monthly update. {If you'd like to read about my One Word, click HERE.}

One Word 2015 February Update! #OneWord2015 #LivingWater

1) Drinking water - I set a goal of drinking 80-100 ounces of water a day, as well as having no soda except for Saturday and Sunday. I had to change my 'soda days' to Friday and Saturday. The little fast food joint I love getting soda from isn't open on Sundays. So I swapped days.

I've had good days where I've easily hit my goal. Then I've had a few days where it wasn't so easy. I can honestly say, a few days I've been stuck at 60 ounces of water. For the most part I haven't really craved Pepsi, not like I used to. When I do start craving it, I try to drink a full glass of water. That normally helps curb the craving.

I've been using the app Waterlogged to help me keep track. It's a great tool that helps me remember. I can look back on the day and see how much more water I need to drink.

I keep pressing on, carrying my Tervis tumbler with me every where I go and drinking as much as I can!

2) Living Water - I want to get into the Word more than just in the morning time. I've been using the She Reads Truth app. I can't tell you how much I love this app! Incredible reading plans that give you the Word of God and great encouragement. Two of the plans I have finished and love are the Open Your Bible 14 day plan, and the Hymns 5 day plan. She Reads Truth also offers cute images to share on social media. I have a reminder set on the app each day at 1pm and it works out great for me. A few days I've read the Scriptures and devo while in line at the grocery store or sitting at my boys' basketball practice in the parking lot.

I am reading the Duck Commander Devotional for women before bed each night. Each day gives 1 Scripture verse and a short devo. Perfect for before bed reading and I love that I am getting the Word and encouragement before falling asleep. I've stayed consistent with this and it has been a blessing!

I am loving have 3 times of Bible reading and encouragement each day. It also gives me that reminder to pray and give thanks to God.

How are you doing with your One Word, New Year's Resolution or goals for this year? If you've fallen off the wagon, so to speak, it's okay! Just get back to it. Share your experiences in the comments, I'd love to see how you are doing!
