Delight

Sometimes taking the kids grocery shopping can be a stressful experience.  Join me at Woman to Woman for tips on each trip more pleasurable.

"Take delight in the Lord and He will give
you the desires of your heart."
Psalm 37:4

For many, this verse seems like a pass to getting absolutely whatever we want.  Like if God were a genie in a bottle.  But the truth is, when we are truly delighting in the Lord, our desires become His desires.  No longer does a big screen tv seem to be the desire of our heart, but seeing our neighbor saved is.  No longer does a brand new boat seem to be the desire of our heart, but blessing strangers is.

Take delight in the Lord.  Let your desires form into what He wants.  His desires are far more rewarding than anything we could want.

Sweet Blessings~

  2. It seems a lot of people use this verse in the wrong way. You are right though and we should all want the desires of God, life sure is more pleasant when we do. Thanks for this reminder.

Blessings to you and love you.

  3. Delighting in Him is when His desires become our desires. Definitely a truth I learn a little more each day.

  4. Very true. This goes along well with my devotional post yesterday. I used the same verse as well. By making God the center of our lives, He will fill our hearts with what we need. God Bless!

  5. I love those verses Jenifer. Indeed they are so often spread around out of context. When we truly delight in the Lord, then our desires will be joyfully lost to His... how I want that always!

  6. A most excellent post! When yu delight in the Lord and desire to follow His path, a lot of your worldly desires seem to melt away. In fact, when you look back at some of your past "wants," you just shake your head. Being in communion with the Lord changes you within, so you can do without. Blessings! Glad to have found you!

  7. Jenifer, thanks for linking up. I always appreciate your thoughts. And I am continually amazed that the Lord give us our desires and then gives us our desires. Pretty awesome. Hope you have a wonderful week friend.
