IT'S POWERSHEETS LAUNCH DAY!

I have been a fan of Cultivate What Matters for years. I found this company eight years ago (I believe it was) and immediately felt a connection. The ladies of Cultivate were so bright and energetic that it was impossible to not love them. When I decided to give their biggest product, the Powersheets Goal Planner, a try, I was amazed.

Powersheets have been a huge part of my life ever since. This goal planner is so much more than just another planner. It's like having a life coach in your pocket. Powersheets help you find out who you are and what matters the most to you. Then, through action steps, it helps you create a plan that works best for you in your season of life. Next, it helps you celebrate little by little progress.

Powersheets have been instrumental to me in writing all four of my devotionals and in my every day life with daily habits I want to create. I am absolutely a Powersheets user for life!

Then a couple of years ago, this favorite company of mine created the Seasons by Seasons Planner. They had another homerun with this product. This is by far the best planner I've ever used, and I've used a lot. They offer a daily edition and a weekly addition, both spiral bound. I love how both editions have the hourly blocks of time, making it perfect for scheduling day to day life.

In addition to the Powersheets Goal Planner and Seasons by Seasons Daily/Weekly Planner, they offer so many great accessories to make planning easy and fun. I love the tending tape (washi), the beautiful stickers, and all the pouches!

The pencil pouch and accessory pouch even have a strap on the back to attach to your Powersheets or Seasons by Seasons. And this year, there are not one, not two, but seven different sticker books to help you add pops to your planners.

This year they have five Powersheets covers and two Seasons by Seasons covers, and I have to tell you, out of all the years I've been using these products, this year was the hardest to choose a cover. I normally know immediately which cover I want and this year I went back and fourth between two Powersheets covers and both Seasons by Seasons. They are all just so beautiful!

The new 2025 collection launches TODAY at 10:00am EST. You can get all the tools you need to make 2025 organized, productive, and amazing! To shop this beautiful new collection, click HERE. And be sure to use code JENIFERMETZGER for 10% off your order.

LOOKING BACK ON MY WORD FOR 2023

Happy New Year friend! I pray you holidays were blessed.

In 2023, my word of the year was actually a phrase: draw near. Using James 4:8, I wanted to draw near to God.

Looking back on my word for 2023

To draw near to God, my plans were to:

- continue my daily quiet time
- read through the entire Bible
- do in depth Bible study
- journal
- use Write the Word journals daily
- cultivate a passionate prayer life
- read a devotional and Scripture before bed
- work on Scripture memory

While I do feel as though I had growth in this area and I sought to draw near to God, this is a goal that you will never "arrive" in. There will always be room to grow and we should continually seek to draw near to God.

Two areas I struggled with is before bed devotional and Scripture reading and Scripture memorization. I started the year strong with doing a "mini" quiet time before bed, but soon fell back into the old routine of reading novels or playing games on my phone. As for Scripture memory, I completely failed in this area. I am excited to be working on Scripture memorization this year with Woman to Woman's January Scripture Memory Challenge!

In addition to my word of the year, my Powersheets goals were my faith, marriage, family, finances, ministry, and health. I feel there was growth in these areas, but again, there will always be room to grow. I am thankful for the growth I did make.

Specifically in my health. I was going to the gym 4-5 days a week. It became a really good daily habit and I begin to feel so much better. I even worked up to one mile on the elliptical -this machine used to kill me only one minute in. I was doing really good with getting in 100 ounces of water a day, keeping up on vitamins and medications, and was averaging 10,500 steps every single day. I felt great and I proved to myself I could do it.

I stayed strong in this goal from January 1st until the end of October. My schedule with watching my grandsons changed and instead of adjusting my gym time or workouts, I just quit. Once I quit working out, it felt as though everything else unraveled. I am disappointed in how I finished the year out with this goal, especially after realizing I could do it.

There you have it! My word of the year and Powersheets goals all had growth, and I learned so much about my goals and myself. But, there is still lots of room for growth.

What about you? Did you have growth in your word or goals last year? How do you feel you did?

Over the next couple of days I will be sharing my One Word for 2024 and my Powersheets goals! Join me!

ONE WORD 2023 & POWERSHEETS GOALS

I love the new year! There may not be anything magical about January 1st, but to me there is something so fresh and special about the new year. A few weeks ago I finalized my One Word and Powersheet goals and I am so excited for this year!

In 2022, my One Word was peace. I wanted to seek the peace of God. While I do feel as I grew in that area, I never feel as though I arrive with my One Words because I believe there is always room for growth. My Powersheet goals were my faith, marriage, family, health, finances, ministries, friendship, and fun. Again, I definitely made progress in these areas and cultivated good things, but I believe there is still room to grow.

That leads me to my One Word and Powersheets goals for 2023! Drumroll please....

One Word 2023 & Powersheets Goals #powersheets #goals #OneWord #2023

My word for 2023 is two words actually: draw near. In 2022, our women's ministry at church had a focus of drawing near to God. This theme really resonated with me so I wanted to continue with it in 2023.

I want to draw near to God in every area of my life. I want to know Him, feel Him, and see Him. I want to feel Him draw near to me, and as James 4:8 says, in order to feel Him draw near, I have to draw near.

So in 2023 I will work on drawing near to God. My plan to do this is to:
- continue my daily quiet time
- read through the entire Bible
- do in depth Bible study
- journal
- use Write the Word journals daily
- cultivate a passionate prayer life
- read a devotional and Scripture before bed
- work on Scripture memory

Drawing near to the Lord, to come closer to, to approach, is always beneficial, it's always a blessing, and it always has an eternal reward.

One Word 2023 & Powersheets Goals #powersheets #goals #OneWord #2023

In addition to my One Word of drawing near, I also set six goals to work on using my Powersheets Goal Planner.

My Powersheets goals are often the same from year to year because these are areas of my life that are the most important to me and I want to continue to grow and cultivate them. The six areas I am working on is my faith, marriage, family, finances, ministries, and health.

One Word 2023 & Powersheets Goals #powersheets #goals #OneWord #2023

Faith - This goal goes along with my One Word so my action steps will be the same.
- continue my daily quiet time
- read through the entire Bible
- do in depth Bible study
- journal
- use Write the Word journals daily
- cultivate a passionate prayer life
- read a devotional and Scripture before bed
- work on Scripture memory

Marriage
- pray daily for my husband
- date regularly
- serve my husband with joy
- love him well
- communicate clearly
- phone down, eyes up

Family
- pray daily for our kids and grandsons
- get together with all of our adult kids at least once a month
- when together, phone down, eyes up
- pray daily for extended family

Finances
- tithe regularly
- pay bills regularly
- watch needless spending
- build savings

Ministry
- pray over ministries
- keep up with ministries at church
- keep up with blog ministries
- write

Health
- drink at least 80 ounces of water a day
- walk at least 9,000 steps a day
- take vitamins and prescriptions every day
- work out five days a week
- less sugar

With each of these goals I have daily, weekly, and monthly action items to work towards and I can keep track of those on the Tending List in my Powersheets Goal Planner. Each afternoon I mark of my daily habits if I have completed them. Every Tuesday for Tending List Tuesday, I go through my weekly habits and mark those off and then I take a look at my monthly habits.

One Word 2023 & Powersheets Goals #powersheets #goals #OneWord #2023

Using the Powersheets Goal Planner helps me to keep track of how I am doing. I can see my progress, celebrate the wins no matter how small they may be, and see where I am not making progress so that I know I need to work on that particular goal.

I keep my Powersheets Goal Planner on my desk, but will often carry it with me to the kitchen. I love how Powersheets have helped me through the years. They've helped me with big picture goals like writing my devotionals, and with every day habits.

There you have it! My One Word for 2023 and my goals using my Powersheets Goal Planner! I am excited for 2023 and ready to grow good things this year!

Do you choose a One Word or goals? What are you working on this year? Share in the comments and let's encourage each other!

POWERSHEETS & GOALS FOR 2022

Yesterday I shared my One Word for 2022, and while I have one big area I want to focus on, I also have goals to work toward. For this, I use Powersheets.

I've been using the Powersheets Goal Planner from Cultivate What Matters for about five years now and love it! This goal planner helps me really dig in and find what matters most to me in each season of life and helps me cultivate those things with little by little progress.

Powersheets were instrumental in the writing of Joyful, Patient, Faithful and Gratitude Mom Devotional! It has also helped me with every day habits.

Here are my Powersheets goals for 2022!

• Faith - Cultivate a passionate prayer life • Start and end my day with Jesus • Read the Bible daily • Write the Word journal daily • Memorize Scripture

• Marriage - Pray daily for my husband • Love my husband well • Serve him with gladness • Date regularly

• Fun - Enjoy lake days with my husband • Relax • Read for fun • Laugh more

Each month I will set monthly, weekly, and daily action items to help me toward these goals, though some of my goals won't have all three. Since my Powersheets goals are mostly habits to cultivate, my action items from month to month are often similar. Here is a look at January!

Weekly - none
Monthly - Memorize John 14:27

AUGUST POWERSHEETS

I haven't done a Powersheets update in a couple of months so I thought it was time! The Powersheets Goal Planner is what I use to help keep me on track with the things I want to accomplish. Having my Powersheets is like having a goal coach or life coach walk beside me, encouraging me and cheering me on.

Before I share my August goals, let's check out July! July was a wonderful month. I made some great progress in some areas and was able to see where I was lacking to try and kick myself into gear.

Working through August Powersheets Goal Planner! #Powersheets #Goals #Goalplanning #CultivateWhatMatters

July goals:

♦ Faith: Growing in my faith and walk with God is always my number one goal. Each day I had my morning quiet time which included reading my Bible, doing my Write the Word journal, and praying. However, I have not done my nighttime devotional in quite awhile and need to get back to that. At the beginning of the year I purchased the Search the Word Collection from The Daily Grace Co. This is an in depth study on the Bible. I have looked through the study, however I still have started it yet.
♦ Marriage: Marriage is also an important goal that I always work on. My husband and I had a wonderful month! Each weekend we went camping at the lake. We absolutely love that time away just the two of us. We also have been going out to dinner one night a week just the two of us. This mid-week date is so fun! We married very young and had kids right away, so it honestly feels like we are dating again! One of my weekly action steps is to ask my husband what I can do to serve him. He almost always says nothing, but I want to be available to him if he ever needs me to run an errand, do something at the house, or even pray for him.
♦ Family: We had some fun family time in July! We celebrated Independence Day at the lake with our kids and some friends. We also planned a special Sunday outing where we road the downtown streetcar, went to the river market, and had lunch. I love getting together with my kids! I have had a monthly action item on my Powersheets almost all year that I still have not completed: family photo book. I still need to do our 2019 and 2020 books and start on our 2021 book. Mercy it is so much work but I love having it done and really need to get on it.
♦ Home: In July my husband and I had a day where we worked on the yard and outside of the house for an entire day. It was hard work but very much needed and worth it. I have been wanting to paint the living room and dining room all year and we just haven't gotten to it. I am just going to put it off for now and plan to accomplish that this winter.
♦ Ministry: I have been working on a project (I cannot wait to share with you!) and had a lot of behind the scenes work to do. I kept up on ministries at church as well as blog posts and social media for the blog.
♦ Health: This has probably been my biggest accomplishment right here! As a housewife who loves being home as much as possible and my ministry work is all done sitting at the computer, I don't get a lot of steps in. Sometimes the end of the day comes and I am embarrassed by the small number of steps I've taken. I want to work on my health -not weight loss because that can be overwhelming, I just want to be healthy no matter what the scale says or what my jeans size is. In June I decided to challenge myself to meet my step goal of 9,000 steps every day. I didn't make it. I didn't get 9,000 steps every day, but I did most days! Saturdays and Sundays I missed every time, but Mondays through Fridays, I hit it every time! I decided to challenge myself to do it again in July and the same thing happened, I didn't hit 9,000 steps on the weekends, but I did on the weekdays. For me, that is huge! If you've been following along with me on Instagram, each morning I share a story with my Fitbit showing my steps for a morning walk. I don't do this because it is a huge number or my tiny one mile to one and a half mile walk is huge (mercy, I see people sharing five mile runs, RUNS!). I share it because for me, it is big and I pray that someone, even if it is just one person, sees that story and thinks if she can do it so can I.
♦ Piano: For the time being, I have decided to lay this goal down.

Okay, there was July! Now let's move on to see what August holds.

Working through August Powersheets Goal Planner! #Powersheets #Goals #Goalplanning #CultivateWhatMatters

August goals:

♦ Faith: Each day I I will have my morning quiet time in the morning which includes reading my Bible, doing my Write the Word journal, and praying. I plan to get back to my nighttime devotional as well. It is a 365 day devotional and I am just going to jump to the current day and get to it!
♦ Marriage: My husband and I are going continue our once a week mid-week dinner date and our Friday nights at the lake. This month is our 24th wedding anniversary. We have already exchanged gifts but we will have a special dinner later this month.
♦ Family: We have a family getaway planned and we are so excited! It will be my husband and I, all of our kids, and the grandbaby! And I really need to work on our family photo books.
♦ Home: I am planning to clean the carpets, I try to do this once a month but didn't get it done in July so it really needs it! I am also hoping to organize closets this month, one closet at a time.
♦ Ministry: I have some big work coming up this month for my special project, and I get to share it with you later this month! I also have to work on ministry schedules for church.
♦ Health: I am going to continue taking a walk each morning. As much as I hate mornings -and sweating- I have actually come to really enjoy this time. I spend the thirty or so minutes in prayer and enjoying nature. In July, I walked Monday through Saturday so I want to keep up with walking six days a week. And because I hit my step goal of 9,000 steps every weekday, I am thinking of upping my goal to 10,000! Hmm, should I?

APRIL POWERSHEETS

March has flown right by us and April is lurking at our door. This has been a busy but wonderful month for our family! My devotional, Joyful, Patient, Faithful launched, my son married an amazing woman, and we started a new church.

March goals:

♦ Faith: I continued with my daily Bible reading plan and Write the Word journal and at night I did my daily devotional.
♦ Marriage: My husband and I had a couple lunch dates. We also did our favorite thing, opened our camper for the year! We love going to the lake together. We get to spend quality time without tv and phones and distractions.
♦ Family: My son got married! I love that we added his wife to our family, she is truly a wonderful addition. One of the things I needed to do was get my dress for the wedding, and I obviously did. We had a girls day which ended with dinner with my mom.
♦ Home: My husband and I are working on building our savings. We didn't add as much as we hoped but we are making small progress which is great. I also did a dreaded chore, cleaned all the blinds. Not a regular dusting but scrubbed them and washed the curtains.
♦ Ministry: Joyful, Patient, Faithful launched! We had a wonderful launch and I am so grateful for your support! My husband and I accepted a new position at a new church.
♦ Health: I have been working on getting enough water each day as well as getting in my greens. I've done pretty well here. I haven't been walking like I want to though.
♦ Piano: I have a plan for piano, but with this month being so crazy I haven't been able to start yet.

That is how March went around here! Busy! Good progress in some areas. Not much in others.

Moving on to April! April is another busy month (arent't they all!?) I am working on a big project, establishing new ministries at church, and my daughter is having a big surgery next week. So April is full for sure. Here are my goals and plans for the next month.

April goals:

♦ Faith: I will continue with my daily Bible reading plan and Write the Word journal and at night I will do my daily devotional.
♦ Marriage: My husband and I are busy the next couple of weekends but will take time for lunch or dinner dates. Then when our weekends open back up for the second half of the month, we are planning some amazing weekends at the lake.
♦ Family: Our church is having a Good Friday service this week. Since three of our four kids (and their spouses) attend different churches, I am beyond excited to have all four of my kids planning to go to Good Friday service with us! My son-in-love and daughter-in-love have to work (boo) so we will greatly miss them, but I am thankful the others all get to come. We are hoping to do a family dinner and game night this month too.
♦ Home: We will continue to add to our savings. This is an important goal for us as we are trying to build a savings. I think we are finally ready to paint the house!
♦ Ministry: I am working on a new project that I am super excited about (I'll share more soon!) and I will keep up on the blog here and at Woman to Woman. As I mentioned above, my husband and I started a new position at a new church so we are working on policies, schedules, and all that good stuff.
♦ Health: I am committed to working on my health. I am going to try to go from 80 ounces of water a day to 100 ounces. I am taking greens every day. I added apple cider vinegar vitamins to my daily vitamin intake. And I am planning to start walking. I always plan to but haven't done it. Now is the time!
♦ Piano: Again, I have a plan! I don't know if I will start this month or not but I do have a plan.

There you have it! Those are my goals and action steps for this month. What are you working on this month?

MARCH POWERSHEETS

This year is sure moving along! February brought record low temps, snow, and ice. Here in the Midwest we had about two weeks of frigid cold and snow. Right before that happened, my husband commented how we had such a mild winter. Then BAM! Since my husband works outside, he was home those two weeks. I love him being home so very much, but it always throws my own regular schedule off a little. We enjoyed lazy days snuggled in warm blankets watching old tv shows. I loved every minute.

Here is how February went with my goals.

February goals:

♦ Faith: Each morning I continued with my daily Bible reading plan and Write the Word journal and at night I did my daily devotional. I completed the 28 day prayer challenge with Chrystal Evans Hurst. I still haven't started some Bible study materials, but that that's ok.
♦ Marriage: My husband planned a weekend away for just the two of us. It was amazing! We stayed Friday to Sunday in a beautiful hotel, painted pottery, tried new restaurants, road the street car, walked, talked, prayed, laughed, it was wonderful
♦ Family: At the end of our weekend away, my kids planned a picnic for all of us. It was so much fun. We had to cut it a little short because the wind was so bad and it made it too chilly for the baby. But it was so nice to be with all of my kids. I still haven't started by 2020 family photo book or finished my 2019 family photo book. I love the outcome, but it takes so much work.
♦ Home: I have been wanting to paint the dining room and living room. We finally went to do it and the paint we had went bad. So, we still haven't done it.
♦ Ministry: Did you hear!? I have a brand new devotional for moms coming out later this month! So I have been very busy working on getting everything ready for launch.
♦ Health: I haven't done any walking, remember those frigid temps! But I have done good with water most days and taking my vitamins everyday.
♦ Piano: I have my plan for re-learning the piano, I just haven't had a chance to start.

As you can see, some of my February goals went great, some didn't move. But I am pleased with little by little progress and excited for March.

 March goals:
♦ Faith: I will continue with my daily Bible reading plan and Write the Word journal and at night I did my daily devotional.
♦ Marriage: My husband and I will go out a couple of times, we like to try different local restaurants. We are also hoping the freezing temps are over so we can head to the lake at the end of the month. We love lazy lake weekends together.
♦ Family: I still need to work on 2019 and 2020 family photo books. My girls and I have a girls day planned for this weekend. And I am really hoping this month that we can do a family scavenger hunt or go paint pottery. It is just a matter of working everyone's schedules out. My son gets married this month so I still need to find a dress!
♦ Home: I am still hoping to paint soon. I also want to get back to adding to savings each week.
♦ Ministry: Joyful, Patient, Faithful launches NEXT WEEK!
♦ Health: I will continue to try to get 80 ounces of water in each day and take my vitamins each day. With the weather starting to turn nice, I am hoping to get out and walk at least three times a week.
♦ Piano: I do have my plan for re-learning the piano, but with the book coming out this month and my son getting married this month, I will probably wait to start until April.

Those are my goals and action steps for this month. For the most part, my goals stay the same each month, with little additions or tweaks here and there. But these are the things that are so important to me and I want to be sure to cultivate them each month. What are you working on this month?
